Finnnnalllly! Got an up close look at an Elise...

I am away from home... AGAIN... having to putter in a rental. But! I'm am actually in a big city this go around (Min/St.Paul til Friday AM) so I stopped in the Lotus Jaguar dealer for a bit to see if they had an Elise yet. Turns out they did (although already sold)!!!

Cute car in person. Looks like it would really drive the edge nice. Bit like an MX-5 on steroids popping speed for good measure. I did not, unfortunatly sit in it as it was already sold and the dealer guys - while pleasant enough- were not the most friendly. But then... I am not in the South. Been trying to get to Atlanta to see one but I just can not seem to get the time!

My thoughts:Pretty sporty looking car with attention to drivers not riders. Appears that if you can not drive at the edge (7/10ths or better), you will not get the most from this car.

However, on the down side... I'll still stick with the Esprit. The Elise seems to capture the extreem of exotic without capturing the ellegance. It stirs the driving spirit, but something is missing from the "look at that" side of things. More like a road racer than an street exotic... I hope they get smart though - and put James Bond back in a Lotus!

I live in a far-west suburb of Minneapolis... Spring Park. Let's grab a beer while you're in town.

Downtown Jag-Lotus has a black demonstrator you should be able to drive. I've taken it out twice. If you get a chance to go back, ask for Shawn Stromath and tell him I sent you. He's enthusiast-friendly and good about talking with folk who what to see the car.
