I know this sounds stupid, but I need some help getting the connector apart at the base of the steering column on my 1999 Esprit.

I'm installing a new Raid Steering wheel and have come to the point of disconnecting this harness. The troublesome connector is orange & yellow and is located beneath the drivers dash at the base of the steering column. I'm sure it locks together some how, but I can't figure out how. It's not a connector style that I'm familiar with and don't want to pull too hard.

What is the trick to getting the connector apart????

Help!!!

Thanks,
Jeff

HI,

I don't have the V8 service manual, but any wire going to the sterring wheel which is yellow is likely to be the airbag circuit.

Exercise great care when fiddling with this circuit because triggering it can have some nasty effects. If I am correct in assuming it is airbag related, you'll need a special tool to separate the connector. Call a GM service dept and send them a digi pic of the connector in question. They should be able to identify it as airbag or not. If so, perhaps you can arrange a tool swap to get it loose. Hope this helps.
