If I install a BOV to my 84 carbureted Esprit,
do I need to cap or eliminate the stock dump valve?

Also if I can fabricate a BOV pipe that will mount in the same location of the stock dump valve, will it work?

Thanks

If the BOV is operating correctly, the dump valve should never open. If it were me I would leave it in place as a "backup."

When I hit 12 to 14psi of boost, the dump valve
will open and I am only less than 3/4 of the WOT.
I hate it. I can hear the dump valve like a raspy
voice of a smokers.

If I am in the hi-way, I am only a bit higher than 1/2 before WOT and I can't go on. The dump valve totaly open...I have more to go.

I didn't realize you were running so much boost (I'm interested in what kind of an IC setup you're running.) In that case, I would cap the dump valve.

Although you could probably adapt the location to fit a BOV, I would probably go for the location everyone else does (right after the turbo.) Just my two cents and I'm certainly no expert.

P.S. Are you in CT?

Hello All

You may wish to take a look at invenair.com, it shows some pics of my 84 Turbo with a GREEDY BOV installed in the standard location. Other mods are mentioned as well.

Cheers
