I have grown some massive testicles and decided to dye the interior on my Esprit. Its in fantastic condition but I hate the colour.

It will be going from this

To hopefully a semi-gloss black, it will then match the rest of the car.

My furniture clinic colour change dye pack arrived this week.
The Lotus is booked in this weekend for Goodridge braided brake hoses all round so hopefully next weekend I can make a start.

Will post the pics as I do it! Wish me luck

Good luck! The black should work well.

Look forward to seeing the results.

Ok,

had to cancel the welding this weekend as couldnt use the lift and the brake hoses are not urgent. So I started on the interior. With a little help from the baby and lots of help from the dog (stealing my tools and burying them) I have so far managed this, taken about 10 hours in total so far but a fair bit of that was getting the seized bolts off the seats.

I think its starting to look great, needs some more coats to even it up but this is only two coats!! I plan to do four.

The door cards are very easy to remove by the way, takes 2 mins each side and is only a couple of screws. smile

Ok so been working on it each night after work- about 2 hours.

Nearly done and looks fantastic, I should be able to finish this weekend and reassemble.

Trouble is whilst doing it I keep finding other jobs to do. Decided I dont like the crash pad on the steering wheel so am leaving it off and just ordered a momo horn cover to cap off the steering nut. Should look alot better and not too much fiddling. Its the same size as a Nardi cover but 10 times cheaper (literally).

Momo gear lever ordered as the original was 'knackered'

I have a whole new handbrake gaiter but cannot see how to get the old one off without cutting- any ideas?

is it sewn into the carpet which covers the sill ?? or is it 'placed' on the back of the carpet side and you push the handbrake through the gaiter. . . as you might have worked out this is a guess ! its on my list to do, as mine isnt too bad, but a little crusty.

I haven't actually pulled the carpet back as its all covered due to the dying, however on first inspection it appear stitched to the carpet

today I pretty much finished it off, only a couple of bits left to touch up and the headrest for passenger side to finish.

Its looks in the pics a bit PVC, In reality it lookslike high quality leather but a bit shiny. It should dull down over the next few weeks to normal.

If I knew anyone wearing white jeans I would have to punch them.

I am hoping will be ok, three layers of semi gloss sealant and two layers of super seal- no transfer yet and I've been trying, it appears locards theory of transference doesn't apply in this case wink
