Sounds like I have a bad alternator on my Esprit. Is this something I can replace? If so how? Is the access from beneath? Can the alternator be rebuilt? If not where would I buy a replacement. Hopefully not the dealer.....
Thanks

The alternator itself is a GM part from one of their biggish cars (Saab/Opel etc) and isn't too dear.
As for fitting, it is possible to do it yourself with "normal garage" tools. There aren't any secrets. The alternator sits on the bottom right hand side of the engine (sorry, you'll have to roll around on the floor!) and is driven by a fifty foot long serpentine belt. It might not be exactly fifty foot long....

It just depends on how comfortable you are with a spanner...?

I sent you an e-mail giving you details of where to get them from cheaply.
If you haven't received it then e-mail ma and I'll reply.
