well tomorrow lunchtime I will be.

just a quick introduction to say I am just about to pick up a H plate 90 MY Esprit SE.
always wanted one, never thought I could afford one, have had a beautiful and reliable Excel SE for 7 years, so decided it was time to take the plunge.
after watching Pretty Woman about 45 times, and having had a Silver Excel with nice "no-fade/and its laquered properly paintwork", i decided it was a Silver one again for me this time. nothing else came close.
hate TVR's (too loud),
not a hairdresser, so a ferrari was out,
Jap crap dont do nowt for me,
its gotta be built in britain.
If something breaks, it will get repaired or rengineered and I have many friends with all the right bits/experience/contacts etc to ensure a long term Esprit relationship proves fairly painless.
will be back soon, if i can prise my a$$ out of the seat all weekend

Welcome,

Lets see you are getting the car this afternoon, So will be able to pry yourself away next Tuesday, remove the grin about December (Until the next hoon) and stop sneaking out the garage for peek around Erm actually that never happens.

Iam 6'-3" and have no problems getting into one. All legs as well.
Iam on my second Esprit, first being a 90 turbo. Have to admit, the later 93 onwards have more legroom and tunnel space. Ther are also lots on links to pages giving tall drivers advise how to overcome their problems. See on LEW.

Cheers,

OOOOOOOOOO my god. what a car. everyone just stares!

loved the drive back, till i got in traffic in Maidstone, best get fully used to it before I do stop starts again. gearshift i am getting used to, and its freeing up as i put miles on it. it hasnt been far for a while it seems. spectacular stink of fuel about ten seconds after pulling away, so breather pipe will be done asap. brakes are not really awe inspiring, think that all the pistons and sliders need a good exercising, sliders may be a bit seized i suspect.

60 to 100 in an instant in 5th is magic, no messing!

also, I think the chargecooler impellor has never been touched, (no reciepts for work for it) as the more you drive it, the more it seems to back the boost off, till its only boosting to 0.6 bar. thought it was more than that max. also when you touch the throttle, it kinda dips down then up to accelerate. dunno what that is. its still got the manky E.G.R.V, cat, and a really old exhaust, so thats gotta be a good place to start i have read.

Ok, so it needs a few bits and pieces doing, but its lovely, after the stress of looking, testing, waiting etc, its growing on me like the excel did at first. there a re different sort of car arent they? not a common run of the mill eurobox easy to drive thing.

and its so much easier fitting it in the garage than i thought it would be. shorter than the Excel, so more room at the back, and as long as you get it right over to one side, getting out aint too tricky either. got some foam on the walls of the garage already, to ease the process.

more tomorrow, when i have emptied the tanks again...

Doing the cambelt tomorrow and then should feel happier driving it "properly!"

I can't see how you can 'hate' TVRs for being too loud; my Esprit isn't exactly a Rolls-Royce compared to my TVR.

Let me guess: you'll be putting a 'performance' (ie LOUD) pipe on your Esprit...?

Oh... and even a thrashed Lotus twincam sounds pants compared to an RV8 bellowing through a TVR tube...

Sounds like someones happy !
If you bought it back from Wingham here's hoping you took it down towards the A20 instead of the A2 - its an excellent drive, I usually take my V8 that way, there is a garage there called Motorway sports cars which is a Lotus dealer and you always see the Elises flinging it down the windy roads there.

If you came back via Maidstone you'd have passed right by my house ! Sounds like a nice car, hope to get to see it soon :O]

tvrs.... well, just never wanted one like i have wanted lotus cars. all the tvrs i have ever seen/heard are just far too loud for me. but if thats the way people like them, fair play to em.
the other thing that put me off them was when my pistonhead mate bought a Chimera (sp.) he popped the bonnet catch for a quick squint at the 4.0 litre beast, i lifted said bonnet, and lacerated all four fingers of one hand on unfinished bare fibreglass edge. I wasnt impressed really, it made a Fisher Price childs toy look well engineered. but, i must say it seemed rather rapid. have also driven a griffith 500 round castle combe at speed, and although i wouldnt drive something that heavy on the road, it was mighty fun on the track.
