anyone dyno their v8 esprit?

I ran my 1999 on a dyno several weeks ago but it does have the high-torque ECU from Lotus, free-flow cats and no muffler. They dyno shop uses a systen which adjust for atmospheric conditions. I had 331.8HP at the rear wheels which is about 381HP at the crank with 15% drive train losses.

Nice run Mark, can you elaborate more on the cats? I picked up the Hyper-Flow metal cats... which should get installed late this month. Here's a link for them:

Kevin:
The free-flow cats are from the previous owners custom exhaust. The cats are simply off-the-rack generic ones. The O2 sensors are in the normal spots, hooked into the pipe fore and aft of the cats.
I haven't dynoed the car after Johan's chip upgrade! Should be somewhere around 440HP. I can easily tell the difference.

Feffman that is a very nice pull, considering your only major mod is free flow cats! That is some nice hp your making. KM those are some nice looking free flow cats you bought, hopefully they will do what they advertise on the site and increase efficiency and horsepower. Let us know how it turns out when you install them.
Hi All,
Nice thread ... ;o)
From my experience ALL Esprit V8s do dyno a bit more than the 350HP stated by Lotus .... ;o)
A good/strong/healthy stock V8-engine dynoed on a cold day you normally get something around 370HP. Average drive train loss is around 14-18%. Interestingly this figure is not equal on all Esprits. I assume that the tranny oil/tranny condition/and the type of wheels make a lot of difference ...
Cheers

The digimoto software you get with the V8 OBDII hardware kit I bought can do Dyno readings and plot a graph for torque and BHP.
It does it from calculation, you plug in the weight, tyre details and so on, slot it in 3rd and redline it - pref. on a straight flat road.
Sadly I've had the kit for ages and not used this feature once ! My car is standard appart from K&N filters (once I find the bolt that fell into the engine bay !) and a quicksilver exhaust system. It was re-built just over a year ago so it should record something reasonable - infact it'd be nice to see how accurate the software really is.
I'll probably put a section up on my website as soon as I get around to using it.

I told Johan (www.ExtremeEsprit.com) I'd do a dyno run after the upgrade. I'll let you guys know the results when I do it. Supposed to be around 440HP.
