I appear to have purchased a '91 turbo SE!
Discussion
well....silly me goes and blows some cash on a childhood dream - an esprit!
Used to the world of elises and 340Rs, but was blown away ny this '91 car which has only 13k ..yes 13k miles on the clock.
Mint in every sense - just has a tappety noise - not the manifold - could just be a sticking tappet follower??
SO tell me I've done the right thing and it was worth the money...
what would you guys have paid!?

First off, congralutions. Great cars....93 SE here, love it.
In excellent shape, that's probably a $25,000 car in the US. But, the point is it is yours now right, not what it cost?
Not sure about the tappety noise....all of the 4 cylinder Esprits have a bit of a box of rocks sound to them. Probably normal unless it's very noticeable.
Color? Pics?

no pics yet Jeff...will post some asap.
The car is in quite unbelievable condition cosmetically AND mechanically from what I can see.
Drove it and everything seemed A1. Shame she's never been driven very far really!
Paid a reasonable price I think - I know it doesn't matter really..just wanted to make sure we were in the right ball park.
cheers!

Welcome and . Sounds like you could have got yourself a good one. My only advice would be to check for leaks and suspension play for the first few weeks of driving as all that sitting around and now subsequent use could cause problems with seals and rubbers.
Post some pics and comments so we can all enjoy it.
Did you have the 'Grin' all the way home and again when you saw her this morning.

nope it's from Warrington actually.
Loevly thing. Just wonder if I've paid over the odds at £14k???
Also - needs a cambelt...who can you recommend for the work??
cheers
Do it your self? it really is not that hard as long as you do not get too distracted and have a mirror! If I can do it... yadda yadda yadda....
Also, plenty of good step by steps posted on this baord in the past...
Drive topless!!!

Hi there, it's the same car I was looking at a while back. It was up for £15K at the time. The funny thing was the picture is the same as the latest advert but I certain the number was a wrexham 01978 number and not a warrington number. Never mind.
It's a fine example of a car which IMO should remain original if it is a genuine low mileage car.
Do it have all the supporting history?
That means on average it's only done 1K a year.
As i remember, it has been in storage or not used for a long time. You will need to get the perrishable parts checked out (seals and rubber) just to be on the safe side.
Hope you enjoy it!

it was in storage from 1993 to 1997 - absolute sacriledge!
It then did about1k miles per year since.
Picked her up tonight and better than I expected - absolutely fantastic car. Only issues were a hell of a lot of electrical noise on the radio (whining) and the tappety noise is still there full time.
Will be doing a full service and probably changing the belt this weekend. Will take some pics too.
Cheers

Are you doing this yourself? Radio just needs an inline supressor from Halfords or Motorworld.
Did you get my e-mail the other day?
