What are the current tyre options for an Esprit S3?
Discussion
Theres a few options about.. consensus is that you have to go down to 225 width on the rear. i went for Firestones on my S3 and they are great. nice and sticky also a fair bit quieter than the old tyres.
A mate has used continentals, some kumhos, some vredstein or whatever they are called. check the esprit section of the lotus forums. loadsa help.

With V rated tires I believe both Continetal and Bridgestone can supply a set of 195/60 R15V and 225/60 R15Vs.
They represent modern technology - not like old Goodyears or old Pirellis.
Only Pirelli produces 235/60 R15W, but they are designed for the much heavier Jaguar XJS, and therfore with stiffer shoulders.

Thanks for the help chaps, looked at some of the specific foums. I've gone for the Vredestein Sportrac 3's.
Seem to get decent reviews, were readily available and they're not the wrong price. Then the fact that they're designed by the Giugiaro studio was the clincher!
I'll report back once I've run them for a bit.
Cheers

I've run the Vredestein Sportrac 3s for a couple of weeks and they have performed very well.
The tread pattern has a wet weather bias, but they feel good in all conditions. I can't give any high performance feedback, I haven't tracked the car for about 8 years, and don't intend to any more, but for quickish road use they seem good.
The best thing about them though is the name on the sidewall.......
