Hello everyone

I test-drove a 92 Esprit Turbo SE today and noticed the accelerator pedal was very hard to push down - much heavier than the other car I drove last week (and almost bought before someone else snatched it)

Otherwise this car seems great with a complete specialist service history, but I'm a bit put off by the uber-heavy pedal... Is that something that can be fixed/adjusted?

Any advice is much appreciated smile

Most likely a worn / damaged cable. It has a long way to run from the pedal to the engine. Try operating the linkage on the engine, if this moves freely then it's pretty likely to be the cable, not sure how difficult they are to replace, you might get away with just lubricating it, I'm sure someone will be able to offer advice.
Good luck.
Phil.

Not an unusual problem. Replacing the cable is pretty easy for a rear engined car - plus you may be able to disconnect one of the return springs on the throttle as I did on mine to give a really lighr pedal.
