Here are a few piss of the new brake kit that I am engineering for my pre-Brembo S4.

Old front TMC compared to the new Wilwood pieces

Old rear Bendix compared to new Wilwood pieces

edge view of rears

edge view of fronts

Old front rotor next to new

Old rear rotor next to new

Despite the much larger size of the new rotors and calipers, they actually on the wieght scale are less than the stock parts,

rears are 1lbs (.45kg) less
fronts are 1.5lbs (.68kg) less

Still waiting for custom rotor hats to come back from being anodized, will post pics of system installed when they come, in about a week.

Awesome!! Will any be available to purchase? If so, how much? I guess it will fit all USA spec S4 and S4s since they had the same wheel and tire sizes?
The rest of the brake system is not overloaded with this upgrade?

Not sure if you know but Detlef Claudius has a Wilwood brake set up that's a bolt on application. Brackets, braided steel lines, calipers (6 or 4 piston for the front and 4 piston for the rear), parking brake, and any Wilwood rotor you prefer. I had them on my previous S4 and they were great.

You can find Lotus Prepared by Claudius at www.LotusPBC.com

I may after finishing the system and testing it out on the track offer it to other pre-Brembo owners as a group buy. This hopefully will get the cost low.
Although as it is I have been able to put this kit together for less than half the money of a comparable system offered by the usual suspects.
I am running OZ Novas on my car and the front wheels just clear, I am not sure yet about other wheel fitaments.
As far as the caliper sizes, they are matched to the factory master cylinder. The increase in brake torque is mostly gained from the increase in rotor diameter.
Overall this setup will yield a 35% increase in brake torque over the stock sytem. The front/rear brake torque bias is also matched to the factory brakes so no use of an aftermarket proportioning valve would be needed.

Mark,
I,m well aware of the kits avialable out there from Claudias, PNM, WC Engineering, etc...
I have already gone down that road with PNM, spending $1200 US after shipping and ending up with a system that showed absolutly no improvment over the stock system (except cosmeticaly).
The kits available from WC and Claudius are prohibitly expensive , I just can't see spending over 3k on brakes for one axle.
Besides saving a ton of money, doing this project has been alot of fun. And for me that's what it's all about.

Mike, I am glad to see another member out solving problems themselves instead of throwing money at it. All these things we do with cars, brakes, exhaust, turbos, etc. are not expensive at all when done on your own with forethought. However, they are expensive when you just blindly purchase what others are offering. It is nice that you're sharing this with others and will arrange a group buy so that folks can take advantage of it and save money. These are the sorts of benefits I see of having forums and clubs, nice to see it happening.

I too have the PNM brakes and am very disappointed. Sure, they look better but that seems to be about it...
