There was a project on TLF a few years ago to fit the Jaguar 3.0L V6 into an Esprit -

This thread deals with an LS4 V8 into an Esprit S2 (with attendant chassis, suspension and brake upgrades) -

http://www.thelotusforums.com/forums/topic/28055-l...

And there are a few out there with the Rover V8 installed.

I had my eye on these guys a few years ago when I was presented with rather a large estimate to fettle my first Esprit V8's engine (cracked manifold, broken head bolts, new turbos, new gearbox (snapped 5th gear) and numerous other items) I ended up paying the bill to keep it all original.

When I was looking Caral were offering the Jaguar V8 conversion which did look nice but I see they don't list it anymore. What they do list however is a Corvette LS3 V8 conversion with a Getrag 6-speed gearbox -

I'm sure they would be willing to discuss the Jaguar V8 though - if you have a fat enough cheque book.....

You could of course just buy a V8 Esprit as there are a few nice ones for sale at the moment, nice dash AP brakes everything designed to work with the cars output.

The one thing I learned from the Jap car scene when I was running my RX7 is to be careful and not to get carried away. I saw a couple of Skylines that had over £40K spent on them and they couldn't sell them on for £20K. I worked out you could have bought one of the very latest Skylines run it for a year or two and it would have lost less money than spent on their cars. I suppose the owners could say I've missed the point but I beg to differ
