91 esprit clutch/pressure plate
Discussion
Hello,
i have a 91 Esprit, it just stopped going into gear.
i checked the clutch slave cyc. it moves about 1" to 1"1/4
i adj. the clutch adj. screw in about 3/8" and i could get
it into 1st and 2nd but not 3 or 4, it wasn't right any how.
i am looking for a cross reference for a clutch and pressure
plate and throw out bearing
the last two numbers in my serial # is 72
need help, i live in the northeast and only drive the car
on sunny days. no rain, or winters. i want to drive it.
thanks

My '90 SE would not go into 1st or Reverse and was very difficult to get into 2nd - 5th. I was able to easily fix the problem myself for about $8.00. The problem was the clutch slave cylinder. There is a rod that goes into a rubber boot. I removed the rubber boot (no need to remove the slave cylynder), and found that a small rubber cap was missing from the end of the rod. I purchased the slave cyclinder rebuild kit from JAE, which included this small rubber cap. I put the cap on the end of the rod, then put the rubber boot back on the slave cylinder and the problem completely went away. It took only 10 minutes to fix at the maximum. I keep a slave rebuild kit around just in case the new rubber cap gets worn out. Good Luck...Ryan
