Hey, I have a 1988 esprit turbo. Its completely standard and as we speak is en route to the tropics.
Is it worth installing an after market intercooler, I am not hugely worried about the power gains but am concerned the turbo might be running a bit warm with 30 degrees plus every day. I am only talking about a small intercooler and professionally installed.

I know the sensible thing is to buy an SE but this isnt an option for me.

thanks

100% Definite! It will help preserve the engine more than the actual turbo. I would consider water injection too as this will lower the charge temperature by up to 30deg.
Also make sure your water system is ok too - perhaps change the cooling fans as the oem ones aren't too good.

Thanks, there are not many Esprit people out here but bundles of places that deal with skylines and imprezas. I am hoping one of those will be game enough to install it for me.

thanks again -just confirmed what I was thinking.
