ok, Ive been reading through the Esprit Fact File, and I cant believe there is so much information in one place. but after reading all of that, I got to thinking about something. are there any other transmissions that will fit in an Esprit? I mean, theres got to be something out there that can be swapped into one. anyone know?
The Renault UN1 gearbox as used in the Esprit is also used in mid-engine kit cars. It has also plenty of usage in other sports cars (Venturi, Renault Alpine, etc.). Although the Esprit torque certainly pushes the box to the limits, it can still be considered as very strong. Renault 25s have done 200k-300k kms without gearbox rebuild. I have owned a 25 V6, and was strongly impressed by the endurability of the drive line.
