I have to confess that I don't know a great deal about Esprits, but this appeals on so many levels.
The wife has already warned me however that it would be a divorce-worthy purchase!

Any thoughts from those in the know?

Seems bang on to me. As for the divorce part, I would suggest to just go for the Esprit. She'll get over it.

What, from those of us who have traded a wife for an Esprit? No contest mate, go for the Esprit.

Seriously, despite my Esprit obsession of 25+ years my wife was still very dubious when I got my first one, but she was soon won over and we've done plenty of thoroughly enjoyable trips over the past 7 years. Decent boot space and a large glove box help of course, given all the paraphernalia she likes to lug around.

Go for it, she will soon be persuaded its a good decision, especially if its a decent one and not a money pit. And therein lies the rub......

I've always like the Esprit, but bare in mind these were near 40k new, and have runnings costs to match, while it will be a lot cheaper than a ferrari to run, it will still be considerably more expensive than a normal car
