I just got the Lotus back from underground detailer supreme, Brian "Evil" Rice.
The car looks absolutely fantastic. I had it machine polished, and Brian got
rid of nearly all of the trouble imperfections, even the large splotch (bird
crap) on the roof that's been there since I bought it. He really did an
incredible job.

From now on, no wax for my car, it's Zaino all the way. I'd seen what he did
to Andy Wheeler's Esprit (I was scared to death of machine polishing before
seeing his) and decided to give it a whirl. Simply amazing results. The Zaino
really does look a lot deeper, and wetter.

Brian only had time to put 3 coats on, but I bought some myself to add to the
depth later. I will probably wait till after the Southern Maryland British car picnic to add more coats, but then again, I may get the urge...

Anyways, got home late enough to miss the opening faceoff of the Wings game, so
all I could take were some garage photos. Trust me, it looks soooooo nice in
the sun, but these will have to do for the time being.

I don't profit from Zaino at all. But if you are thinking of switching from
wax, I strongly recommend you give it a try.

Someday, a proper web site, I promise. I'm behind on other web committments as
it is.

Hey, you're lucky at that time of night the picture wasn't taken in nothing but my boxer briefs.

Hey Ted,

Isn't the front Reg plate out of date? (Just kidding)

Otherwise, Mike ->

Love the headbanger icon. Must adopt it. How did you do it?

The front plate is from the PO. I have personalized plates on order from the MVA, and when they arrive, I will have a "British style" front plate made to match. Haven't decided on white letters on black (like current plate) or black letters on white.

BTW, the personalized plates read: OPW 678W

Those are the numbers off the Esprit in "For Your Eyes Only."

Are they Kinesis aftermarket wheels?
It looks like they have the Lotus emblem
in the center? What size?

They are indeed Kinesis Supercup rims, and they have the Lotus emblem centers. Also have the Lotus logo valve stem caps. 17x8.5 in front, 18x10 in back.

The car does ride waaaay too high on them tho. When it comes time for a new suspension (perhaps next year) we'll be swapping out the existing for the 911 suspension, and we'll lower the ride significantly.

Nice touch with the number plates....something I'll have to do one day when I buy myself an Essex Turbo:-) anyway, why not opw654w, it had a more bondian fate but I like the white one better then the copper metallic one...my opinion of course....then again your car is red...

Actually, both were available, and the Spy Who Loved Me car was my second choice. But I preferred the other flick, and I always thought the copper car with the ski rack was the better looking. Granted it couldnb't turn into a sub, but can you imagine a cooler looking car at the slopes?

Wow Mike

And I did the polishing Actually Brian had to go to the store for some more supplies so I threw a coat or two on for you. Man it sure turned out nice.

Brian has been detailing black show cars for quite sometime so I figured I would let him take a shot at my esprit. Needless to say both mine and Mikes esprits turned out amazing.

For those of you guys that havnt used Zaino I suggest you read up on it and give it a shot. Its the official show car polish of the Vette club,F body club, and the Viper club. Anyways not an advertisement either as I am not affiliated with them but just great stuff.

Heres a link to my car polished up after Brian buffed it with fine cut, and then glazed it.

Hey Mike. I too am considering suspension upgrades. Can you tell me what you know about the Porsche components mentioned earlier? What other options are you aware of?
