Hi everyone. Looking for a good usable (not concours, nor resto project) S3 preferably or maybe an S2 IF galvanised chassis replacement fitted. Must have long MOT.

My preference is for white - why? Well I am 52 so yes its the Bond connection I am afraid, no good denying it and I am firmly in mid life crisis territory I know.

I am mechanically pretty capable, built and supercharged an Alfa Sprint in my earlier years so am happy with doing some work myself.

So if anyone has one for sale or knows a man who does, please let me know - as they say cash waiting (until the missus finds it!).

Peter (located Telford, Shropshire but happy to travel to view).

Yes it is a bit off-white wouldn't you say?!

There seems to be loads of Red ones about and I wouldn't necessarily rule them out - esp if repainted like yours - but all along the little boy in me wanted a white one so I may just be patient.

Mind you I saw a Gold S2 the other day and that was very classy,

Still looking! And oh so close last week. White S3, much work but largely original. And then I HPI checked it - insurance write off in the past and no one has any details or reports of work done. So a walk away.

Apart from that I have covered several thousand miles now and looked at half a dozen ranging from a faded out red car that I wouldn't be seen dead in - though it had an MOT to a very glossy red HC being sold if that's the right word by one Arthur Daley who got very offensive when I suggested an inspection and called me many very rude words. And several in between.

So am still looking - I might live with a different colour if that is too limiting.

So anyone know someone who might be selling? Cash burning hole in pocket and wife talking about "if you dont get a car, we need some furniture" - so I need to find one soon!

my 1978 s1 is coming to the market soon, just ordered some trim parts to replace the last of the rust...once they're on i'll advertise it.
Its a 1978 yellow s1, body never been restored, (bumpers and black parts all resprayed recently),genuine aged crazing but is ready for anyone ready to body restoration.
it has had the interior restored and looks amazing, all electrics, door windows, fans, lights all work, i've had it for 14 years and hardly used it over last 6 years, although it was always garage stored, maintained and mot'd.
It had 10 months mot, only drama is the fact that i had the carbs rebuilt (cost £330) and they just need setting up as they are drinking fuel, ...more photos will follow...

oh and its in West Yorkshire

I'd relax your colour requirements right off. Getting a good one is far more important.

I hate red cars, can't stand them and vowed never to own one. However, the best S3T I found was red and was so good at the price that I couldn't turn it down.

Don't get desperate and buy the next one that comes available. A bad one will ruin things for you. Be patient and a good one will turn up!

Yes good advice. Other colours are OK (can always respray later!), have had 9 Alfa Romeos in a row so Red is a favourite anyway.

Annoying thing is I thought I'd found the one the other week - White, good mechanicals, interior OK but is a Cat D write off and no one has any details. I know a Cat D is Ok to repair and should be OK to reinsure but so many insurers are saying no or want a major inspection first. Dont really want that hassle.

I have been very strong about not buying on impulse - been looking since November and seen about six so far.
