July 2004 Paul Matty ad in classics sportscar MAGAZINE
"Espirt Guigaro celebration model 21 cars produced -this is number 20, only 264 miles
Price VERY VERY EXPENSIVE"

I suprisingly can't seem to find any info on this limited edition - anyone know more -surely there must be a registry for possibly the rarest Lotus?
The car is 1988 E reg and two tone silver/grey and standard turbo alloys

It will be one of the late investors additions. no way near as rare or cool as the Essex Turbo's:

I have a sales brochure for it somewhere - haven't stumbled across it for years but it is filed away for safekeeping. Its pictures are actual photographs attached to the sheet; quite classy even if it doesn't sound it. I had an HC Turbo many years ago and the special edition was based on that version. It might be rare but I'm not sure if it's truly sought after. That one has been for sale for years.

Curiously enough, that car has chassis number 12500.

My standard S3 Turbo HC has chassis number 12544.

Which suggests that the Limited Editions were far from the last S3s off the production line.

Unless, of course, Lotus didn't do things consecutively.

Does anyone know what the last S3 chassis number was? I haven't yet tripped up over a later one than mine.

My car was a 1985 and I thought I knew all about Giugiaro Esprits, but I've never heard of those.

I guess Lotus started earning their place as "kings of the special edition" a long time ago!

Having said that, this car looks very familiar....

The G HC Turbo 'Celebration' Esprit was actually to mark 21 years of production at Hethel.
There were 21 cars made - Duo-tone Red, Blue and Grey.
Same as the 'standard' HC Turbos which were the final Giugiaro Turbo Esprits except for the paint finish and they had
special interior materials including Pigskin and Alcantara/suede. They also had interior plaques and a nice fitted luggage set. The only thing that spoilt them was the naff (IMO) Special Edition No.## stickers on the rear wings - which were in an Italic format as seen on many chavved Metros/Cavaliers a'la Halfords.
I have some photos of the Red one shown at the NEC Motor Show..........

Historic at Brooklands sold this Grey one last year:
