...is likely to drop to the bottom very quickly but...

any of you surf?

Just had utterly perfect Praa sands (yesterday) and loads of big stuff recently.

A few pics:

Hah yeah I surf, not at the moment though...

Longboards rather than the little point sticks.

A reply at last!

I'll take a big board out if it's small - I borrow wife's 8ft Bunty Glide - can just about be thrown around.

Where do you tend to surf?

Occasionally. A 9'6" longboard for me. I've only ever surfed in Scotland - North East and Outer Hebrides. Here's a photo from Lewis.

I am utterly rubbish though!

Cheers,

FT.

Live on the south coast now so limited with surfing, mostly kites down here. My parents have just sold their place in Gwithian, though we still have a holiday place down there. Have a few boards in varying degrees of abuse (6'2" Nev fish; 7'5" gun; 8'3" tombstone longboard and 7' Neville handshape minimal), and friends with a surf shop who let me take my pick of boards.

Those are great photos. Got a trip booked up to Ericeira in a couple of months. Also the surfing threads don't usually stay on for too long, but they'll be some more people along soon.

dmit - do you know Mark Neville was pulled out of the water dead last week? Very sad.

The 2nd pic above is at Godrevy. Often surf there!

Been to Ericeira twice and REALLY rate it! Very nearly imported the local Semente kit but had a good job offer come up. This is one of the breaks there (on the wave in front)

Rob - toured NZ for 3 months as part of our honeymoon in 1999/2000 - did the Millenium in Christchurch so very sad to hear about the earthquake.

Had cracking waves around Kaikoura - loved it!! I love South NZ - wish it was a bit closer!

I did not know, that's a true loss. My first board was one of his, got it about 15/16 years ago.
I'll have to take it down on my next trip to Cornwall. It's not been out in a while.
RIP Mark.

Ericeira is a great place, spent two months there before. Great choice and consistency of waves.

Mitsi - a massive shock. He was very well known down here.

Custard - honeymooned in Oz/NZ in 1999/2000 for 5 months and spent a while in Sydney. A bit unlucky with the swell but had decent Palm beach and nice Avoca. Lucked in at Byron Bay though - pre digi cameras but scanned in these four pics - I'm covered up in three of them and visible only in one (with no barrel) - wife not quite a pro surf photographer!

I'm desperate for some waves again soon, but forecast (as usual) is poor for the Sussex coast! Last surf was in Cornwall about 3 weeks ago, which was fun. Now it's lighter in the mornings/evenings then it's perfect for pre/post work surfs, so fingers-crossed for waves soon...

It's been cracking in South Wales for a good few weeks, especially for loggers like me. Unfortunately a torn and detached retina has meant I'm way behind with everything and haven't been able to get in frown.

Surfed a few times down in Cornwall, mainly Polzeath and Newquay.

Now moving up to Morayshire, where I hear theres some good waves, so looking to get a fun-board for up there.

Also just back from Rio, very popular out there, wish there was somewhere to rent a board!
