IPL Cricket - ITV4
Discussion
I see ITV4 will be showing the IPL this year, caught the last of the first match earlier. The pundity is appalling (although the girl was oddly attractive) and the on-screen graphics very annoying, but still, for those of us without Sky Sports it's the only live cricket I'll see on the box this year!
Not really a huge fan of the T20 version of the game but will be tuning in to a few of these games.
A chance to see the likes of Warney vs Sachin (albeit it didnt happen today) will be fun.
The commentry is ott because a lot of these guys (Ravi Shastri, Gavaskar etc) have a financial interest in the IPL and/or the players.

Just been watching.
Mixed feelings, but overall positive.
The moneymaking pressure is palpable, I suspect every blade of grass has a brand name or two printed on it.
And feels weird to see world stars you didn't know were playing just popping up in the outfield. Sometimes it looks like the cream of talent, other times it looks like cricketing 'Celebrity Its a Knockout'
But the atmosphere feels good and the cricketing quality abounds. It seems to me that a good close game of IPL on ITV4 could tempt a few non-cricket fans into paying attention to other forms of the game.
Its just dawned on me that I turned the Bangla v Eng Radio5 coverage off to take in a bit of IPL. And I'm a test match fan.

Finally this is about to end. It was about 3 weeks too long imo.
But the bigger story has been the recent controversy re the financial affairs of the IPL.
Insider trading, money laundering, tax evasion, corrupt politicians and match fixing are allegations which have been thrown about these past couple of days.
On a cricketing note, this has been a good tournament for England's upcoming T20 WC hopes - Collingwood and KP have been in good form. Bopara and Morgan have also looked good when they've played.

The blurred out logos on the top left of the screen are incredibly annoying.
Yeah, I don't get why they (ITV4) have done that. They are (as far as I can tell) only logos for the IPL, not some other broadcaster.Salgar said:

I'm sure I saw a banner on YouTube saying you can watch it live on there. I'll try to dig out a link.
haha, the IPL finished on Sunday.http://www.youtube.com/user/IPL
Not one for the purists and given the levels of corruption proven and rumoured its's more akin to WWE than cricket however it's still quite entertaining at times.
So for those interested it starts on ITV4 today. The tournament starts off in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah then moves to India after 2 or 3 weeks.

The bowlers did well in the UAE but since moving back to India the scores have been a lot higher.
Maxwell, Miller and Bailey yesterday took their side to a score of 231 scoring 162 from the last 10 overs.
And many of the 6s were ending up in the crowd so it wasn't just a case of the ground being small.
