Shame he could never get a decent run through injury. He showed talent when he was fit.

frown Bloody shame, but not surprised. Had real potential both for us & on the National stage and never really got to show it, horribly affected by injuries ever since coming to E London.

Good luck Deano with whatever you do next.

Big shame. Used to be a big fan of his back when he played for Crewe, even then you could tell he was destined for the big time. Such a shame he was held back by so many serious injuries.

As has been said above, such a shame he never got to show his real talents and gone on to be the great player that we saw glimpses of.
Good luck to what ever he does.

Is there a possibility he could manage, would that make him the youngest manager ever?

Very sad to hear of this. Saw him play at Crewe a few times in the past.

I think insurance covers that, and the fact that Ashton was injured whilst on England duty means that the FA cough up.

He must be feeling bloody awful I would have thought. Playing career over at 26 before he really got to shine, which he doubtless would have done.

I hope he takes up a coaching role and progresses in the game.

Been rumoured for some time but still shockingly bad news. Good luck Deano lad and thanks for what you achieved at WH.

Great shame he's had to retire. He was an excellent player in his time at my club Norwich City. Good luck to him in whatever path he takes after football.
