This is one that wil effect mlittle brother so I thought I'd post it.

"WRESTLING superstar Umaga was last called Jamal apparently in WWE?) has died, aged just 36.

The former WWE intercontinental champion was killed by a heart attack, his family have confirmed.

The Wrestling Observer reported that the Samoan-American star, real name Edward Fatu, fell asleep while watching television in his Houston home on Thursday night.

He was found several hours later by his wife, not breathing and with blood coming out of his nose. He was immediately rushed to a local hospital.

There he was put on life support and his family told to come to Texas as quickly as possible.
Fatu is the latest in a long line of wrestlers to tragically pass away at a young age.

Others include Eddie Guerrero, 38, 'British Bulldog' Davey Boy Smith, 39, Andrew 'Test' Martin, 33, and Chris Benoit, 40, who in 2007 murdered his wife and seven-year-old son before committing suicide."

Now, I was a big wrestling fan as a kid but with all theses stars dying you can't really deny the long term affects of steroid abuse. Note abuse, as I believe in cotrollrd enviroments with doctors etc they can be safe but when a load of macho men wanna get bigger at any cost, and the WWE paying them obscene amounts of money to do so, this is the result.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEHxCAR2suM - to show how far you can really go!

It must be a really tough sport if people can die so young.

Don't underestimate it, They are still flinging themselves about onto a hard ring surface etc. 6'8" guys slamming each othert about would still hurt, even though it is fake.

Brock Lesner said when he joind the UFC that he wrestled for 6 monthes with 2 broken ribs and couldn't remember the whole6 months because of vodka and painkillers!

A press response triggered from the wrestling health and safety sector today said, "In the future all fights will be conducted using cgi, and spectators to the events will be replaced with cardboard cutouts".

Wouldn't surprise me at all. Next they will advocate against watching tv as statistically it could also give you a heart attack rolleyes

RIP Umaga.

This is really bad news. I'm shocked. Umaga was really overweight. Maybe that had something to do with it.

In March, WWE star 'Test' died. They said his death was a mixture of alcohol and steroid abuse. He was only 33.

Fixed, not fake. Most wrestlers are never 100%. Most wrestle 5-7 times a week with injuries that would make most men stay at home and whimper (usually the ones that deride itbiggrin). It's a hard life. And a lot die young because of the cocktail of many drugs. Steroids being one of them.

It's a shame aboot Umaga. I liked him, but he was a huuuuage fella. Not the biggest Samoan though. Check out his cousin, the late great Yokozuna.....BONSAI!!!!!!!!!

Sad news. I'm a big wrestling fan and it's sad to see guys passing away who I used to watch wrestling as a kid.

Also, wrestling is fake and scripted. But it would still bloody hurt and they pick up real injuries all the time. Just accept it for what it is, entertaining theatre.

Haven't watched any wrestling for years now - enjoyed it in the past. Stone Cold was awesome.

Not just steroids, drugs too. These guys spend so much time constantly travelling between matches - it burns you out, you need to take something.

Umaga was kicked out of the WWE a while ago for failing a "wellness" test and refusing to go to a rehab facilty with the WWE picking up the tab. Idiot.

Umaga wasnt built like the usual 'roid monster though. He was just a seriously big bloke...and it wasnt all muscle.

I suspect more weight and other drug problems combined.

he was busted for HGH before he was booted, he was a bit tubby though. Rikishi, another former wwe wrestler was his brother and he's a fat somoan too, also Umaga was the Rocks cousin.

I eant that in doctor controlled, medical human trials steroids cycling has shown no long term side effects. These guys are banging up juice left right and centre, cycling on and off regularly. That was my point.

Well doctors prescibe stedroids for genuine medical conditions.
I think it sort of obviosu what prolonged continuous use leads to, like any powerful drug.

There is a film I would like to see, called Bigger, Stronger, Faster.
