So i'm a relatively competent boarder, have been going once or twice a year for the last 10 years or so. Have reached a level where I can pretty much do whatever I want on my board, with the exception of feeling totally comfortable riding the wrong way round, I can do it but it still feels weird. I'm hoping to nail this this year as we have 3 weeks boarding coming up.

I have come to realise that the majority of what I do is piste orientated which got me thinking. I love going fast and carving tight turns more than finding the freshest powder. Now that probably marks me out as a weirdo or something but as I have the stereotypical British snowboarder abroad setup, twin tip style sims fader, flow bindings and boots all of which i love, I would be seriously tempted to try an alpine board with hard boots.

Do any of you guys ride with hard boots? And I've not really looked in any in resort hire shops recently so do you guys know if any do alpine boards or is it all twin tips with soft boots aimed at beginners/intermediates?

Am I mad?
