Tiger Woods seriously injured in car crash
Discussion
Just coming on Sky news now.
Apparently his car struck a fire hydrant and tree in Florida. Hope it isn't too serious.
ETA: Doesn't seem too bad looking at the Fox News report.
Update from Fox News:
Golf great Tiger Woods was seriously injured in a car accident in Florida early Friday morning, according to MyFoxOrlando.com.
Woods, 33, is in the hospital in very serious condition after a single-car crash at 2:25 a.m. in which he hit a fire hydrant and then a tree, the Florida Highway Patrol told the Web site.
The crash is under investigation and charges are pending.
Woods pulled out of his driveway in the Isleworth community when he struck the hydrant, the Orlando Sentinel reported, citing the FHP.
He then plowed into the tree on his neighbor's property. He was taken to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Fla.
He was apparently traveling under 33 mph because the Cadillac Escalade's airbags didn't inflate, the FHP told the Sentinel.

Lots of stories recently linking him with a woman called Rachel Uchitel.
Stress from this could have led to all sorts of flawed decisions - if charges are being bought, then odds are drink or drugs, I would have thought.
Still ,I would have thought that an under 30mph smash in an Escalade wouldnt be the end of the world, unless he wasnt wearing a seatbelt.

I agree that he possibly was impared in some way or it could be stress related but he is used to pressure. I have just heard on Sky News that drink isn't involved.Stress from this could have led to all sorts of flawed decisions - if charges are being bought, then odds are drink or drugs, I would have thought.

I do hope there is an innocent explanation and it isn't serious as he is a great role model for young kids and he is an exceptional sportsman. If I didn't play golf to a reasonable standard, I wouldn't know how talented he actually is.

I wondered how you could be involved in a 'serious accident' with stationary objects whilst coming out of your driveway. Then I realized that his driveway is probably a bit longer than mine...
Probably like our police "Seriously injured" stats, you are classed as seriously injured pretty much if you need a bandaid. How in God's name did this make it onto the news????
Over 3,000 people were killed on UK roads in 2006. How many of those made international headlines?
Meanwhile, just because he happens to be famous, a few minor injuries see an American flashed over every news website in the World. Pathetic.

because he's the most famous sportsman and possibly person on the planet who exhibits an exceptional talent every time he plays? He also has millions of fans who care about what happens to him. Im not a fan but I would want to know why he turned up at a tournament all banged up or indeed missed one.

Sadly we live in a world where what Jordan ate for breakfast is front page worthy, so...Over 3,000 people were killed on UK roads in 2006. How many of those made international headlines?
