Seems he got away with a minor punishment....ref union representative says it doesn`t go far enough...simple to fix really....get all the ref`s to go on strike....who will then ref the games then.discuss...

Sometimes he does make a point.

Maybe the introduction of the eye in the sky is the best way.

They could use it like the tennis system and each team can have x amount of calls where they can go to video.

He's out of order, but because he's Alex Ferguson, even when criticising him everyone has to first make deferential mention of his 'contribution to the sport' which kind of undermines the bking to follow.

WTF?

What 'contribution'? He's won stuff that if he wasn't around would have been won by someone else.

He's hugely successful. But what contribution is that? What has he made better? I can't think of anything.

Net contribution: err, bugger all.

Spoilt brat taking the piss in a house of toothless parents.

i think he has a valid point though and its even worse inthe championship... they are dire. they can not keep up with the game, they have no idea where to position themselves, they get caught up in the plays, they miss the obvious and then always try to make amends a few minutes later....

what annoys me is if a prem ref makes a cock up, he gets dropped to the championship, i dont want some prem failure reffing our games, i want the best available, not some idiot who has been found making a howler...

An excellent article in the Telegraph today which underlines what Ferguson has brought to English football.

I don't agree with all Winter says, but he does make some valid points. There have been some truly shocking refereeing decision this season. In a Sunday league game maybe it's not important, but when millions are at stake, it is.

Every other sport in the world is switching to replay technology - Rugby, Cricket, Tennis, even golf uses it some times.

Why are footballers so stuborn about refusing to use it?

Keep it to dead ball situations - goals and penalties mainly, and you'd hardly slow down the pace of play, as it always takes a few minutes to restart the game anyway.

Might help keep a few of the diving ponces a bit more honest.

Refreeing will always be poor without technology.

Goals, Penalties and Fouls.

The FA seem to be the only sports association that don't think we are in C21.

I don't see the problem with dives and replays, esp in the penalty area. The technology means it takes seconds to review.

Legitimate fall following contact = foul = penalty.

Shown to be a dive = yellow (or red?) card, free kick.
