this is(according to pacman) his most difficult fight to date by far.cotto is a huge welterweight and manny looked smaller than hatton @ lightwelter.it is a catchweight and freddie roach sees the key to victory as the extra 2lb that cotto has had to concede to make the fight.will this weight drain cause a repeat of paquiao/de la hoya??one thing is for sure , cotto isn`t going to fold like hatton but i see manny taking a points victory for his workrate and aggression.but i could be way off the mark here.

Tough one to call.

Since Pacman has moved up in weight, he has been upstoppable which is fantastic if you consider the class of fighters he has fought. But then you could argue that Dela Hoya was weight drained and shot and that Hatton did not look good in his fight against Lazcano and very nearly got put on his backside by the soft puncing Lazcano.

Cotto is a very good boxer indeed but he's not invincible as we saw when he fought at 140 and his fight against Margarito. At 140lbs, Cotto had been put on the canvas a number of times but was this due to him being weight drained or was it because the guys at 140lbs are marginally faster and were able to find his chin abit easier? Cotto did not look all that impressive in his last outing against Clottey but then again, who does look good against him?

Cotto is a fundamentally sound boxer with great timing and a great punch arsenal, especially to the body. Pacman is a former brawler turned counter puncher who has somehow kept his speed when moving up in weight and developed more power in his punches.

Can Cotto's timing stop Pacquiao in his footstepts like Marquez managed? Will his body attack be too much for Manny? Or we will see Pacquiao box rings around Cotto, taking him into the later rounds where he is known to tire and then knock him out? Let's remember, Cotto had alot of problems with Judah's speed until the middle rounds where Cotto began rough housing Zab Judah. Logically I should pick Cotto but Pacquiao is looking unstoppable at the moment and I hope he manages the victory at the weekend.

I think pac-man will take this and I suspect more easily than most expect, which is just as well because then we can all look forward to the mega-fight that is Paquiao v Mayweather.

i suppose the question is really how much that margarito hammering damaged him.i don`t recognise margarito`s performance as mosley`s trainer exposed his cheating before shane fought him.nevertheless, plaster in his gloves or not,the rammifications of such a hiding are often irreversable.we`ll never know the truth absolutely but margarito`s whole carreer is now questionable.i think it will be manny`s volume output that will cause cotto all his problems here.i`m plumping now for a late stoppage for paquiao.

Ha! Pacman is awesome. Cotto is brave, but stupid.

Wow, what a fight from Pacquiao! Bossed him from start to finish, he is so fast and I gotta say i was impressed with his power as well. I thought Cotto's corner should maybe have not let him come out for the 10th as he was clearly out of the fight at that point and taking a beasting.

This is without a doubt Pacquiao's biggest win to date. He has fought a seasoned welterweight in Cotto who has beat everyone put infront of him (with the exception of Margarito) and beat him in style. Great effort!

I'd like to see how Pacman handles Mayweather as I think that they'd both be having their toughest fights to date. Let's hope this fight happens!

Amazing performance by Pacquiao.

Hopefully the next fight will be Mayweather Jnr but negotiations on that one are going to be a minefield.

Talk of Mosley if Mayweather doesnt come off and Shane gets through his fight early next near against Berto.

Great fighter though, seven weight (five regognised) champion. Still remember the way he took Hatton apart.

good start by cotto in the first round but i agree with the commentary that every time he got his dander up manny was all over him.looks like exactly how i thought it would although the stoppage maybe should have happened in the 9th round.i have a funny feeling floyd will find a way to not take this fight as he has done in the past.i can even see him accepting the fight and pulling a sickie up close to avoid him.mosley would be a great fight if he turns up like he did for margarito.
it`s noteworthy that this probably won`t happen ever again(7 weight world champion)and it`s a safe bet that my grandkids will talk of paquiao in reverence like i do about henry armstrong or sugar ray robinson.

As above I really do think Manny will turn out to be one of the best fighters of this generation.

I honestly thought Cotto would be too big and strong for him. When he fought DLH, I passed that one off due to DLH's trouble making the weight.

I was ringside in Grand Garden Arena when he took Hatton apart. I put that one down to Hatton being mentally underprepared and trying to go toe to toe within 30 seconds of the bell.

So I thought Cotto, who I rate quite highly would be the man to stop him, but again Pacquaio took him apart, comprehensively as well.

There was talk around the PPV numbers that Pacquiao Cotto made and they are pretty large which would mean if the Mayweather fight comes off they should go to the negotiating table evens.

If Mayweather Jnr ducks this one, he'll lose a huge amount of face in boxing.

To be fair to FM, the promoters of both fighters dislike each other intensely and there will be as many obstacles to overcome on that front before the boxers even talk of their own terms and decisions whether to take the fight, what purses, location, etc.

i take your point but when there is the small matter of possibly the largest prizefight in the history of the sport money can make strange bedfellows.floyd will bleat on about his %age and i bet he asks for a better than even split.unfortunately for him paquiao has all the momentum, the bigger fanbase by far(pbf ain`t exactly huge box office comparitively),and by and large is now considered THE man.i really can`t see him risking his" legacy" by taking on pacman.he doesn`t fear the man, he fears being made to look foolish.he is a very boastful individual and behind all the bravado is quite calculating about who and when he fights.nothing wrong with that but i fear negotiations won`t get too far and paquiao wll end up fighting mosley.(who, incidentally i think floyd is avoiding too)
