Well, England lost. No surprise.

England played fairly well, and occasionally had some attractive phases. Big surprise.

Please keep the good rugby going, and results will happen.

Thoughts?

Most worrying thing for England (and Wales too) is that not only did they fail to score trys, but they never seriously looked like threatening the opposition's lines. NH teams are going to have to get a lot more inventive if they seriously want to challenge SH sides.

IMO England played a lot better when they tried to keep the game flowing and create opportunities, but the forwards are going to have to be a lot more aggressive if they plan on breaking through. In contrast, virtually every time Australia kept ball in hand they managed to cross the gain line.

Cueto and Monye are going to get some stick for not bringing the second try scorer down! England looked close at times but that Aussie defence is very very strong.

Agreed.

I thought we were slow and ponderous up front until Dylan Hartley and Courtney Lawes came on.

Agreed but its not as if Ashley-Cooper has poor leg drive he has done it before http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ekK_WYvPag. I thought Australia's center pairing did quite well considering its never been done with those two before. Giteau could have been better i think but it was a solid performance all round in a fairly physical game.

Monye looked very poor I thought, why does he pussy-foot around trying to tackle people at chest height? - reminded me of Jerry Guscott's tackling style!
