Just heard on Radio 4's Today programme that Darren Sutherland has been found dead . . hanged in his flat.

Absolutely shocking. He seemed to be a genuine, good guy; intelligent, well qualified - able to do more than just box if things didn't work out and with so much potential to make it to a high level. God only knows what's behind this but it is such a bolt from the blue. I hadn't read anything about him having problems?

Can't imagine what his family are going through now . . .

Boxing really seems to be jinxed at the moment with so many recent 'big name' deaths.

Desperate stuff altogther; he was a lovely guy, great sportsman and excellent boxer. It's so sad, his people must be devastated, God help them.
