The ref used to be a boxer himself.

He fought Mc Dermott's father in 1977 and got knocked out. That's a hell of a long time to hold a grudge.

That kind of explains how he's been in charge of three of McDermott's fights now, where he's lost all of them!

maloney said he`d take it the the bbbc and i don`t blame him.if that ref was a sailor and i was the captain i would keel haul that bd for his transgressions.mcdermott won that fight by 4 or 5 rounds.to score 98-92 in favour of fury isn`t even way off it`s plain prejudice

Late posting - my brain obviously works as slowly as that "referee" - but just wanted to add my disgust. Unbelievable, really. He should never be allowed to officiate again.

I've seen some stinkers over the years but that was shocking. I've watched it through again and reckon Fury would have been lucky to have won 4 of the 10 even if given a generous view of his 'style' and work rate/digging in. But at times he really seemed to be flailing; knackered, holding, arms down and then sudden short and ineffective bursts of arm punches.

McDermott worked just as hard overall and definitely landed the more damaging shots. Gutted for him as it must be awful to feel robbed (yet again) after so much effort and with so much at stake. To take the title off him the "ref" ought to be able to justify a clear win - probably on the grounds that, "I don't like him, and his dad." Maybe with their history there is something in it and he can't be objective?

it is pretty funny seeing that again!!mind you, i can`t laugh too hard as i have done it myself.mine was a dirty sweaty right hook on the break so i fully deserved it!
