I used to want Scotland to win every match other than if they were playing England in my naive youth when I thought the feeling was mutual.

Now I know what a bunch of sour, bitter, chip on both shoulder gits 99% of Scottish footie fans are, I say "COME ON YOU DUTCH!"

Can I give you an analogy.......

Big brother (England) always looks out for little bro (Scotland). Hes his little brother and needs 'looking after' and 'supporting'.
Little bro thinks his big bro has always bullied him and therfore will do anything to embarass and annoy him.

The Scots don't hate the English, its only when drink, football and the nonstop media coverage of 3 lions (unavoidable in scotland) combine to cause frustration.
If only we qualified at least the constant barrage from south would be nullified by our own bullst

PS I my opinion no football supporter ever caused trouble.....mindless hooligans (from wherever)are the problem and it more than annoys when they are refferred to as 'fans'.

The thing that gets me about the Scottish/English football thing is this.

The BRITISH Broadcasting Corporation, when showing England matches, always refers to England as us/we etc. Can a Scottish commentator do this? Well, the only time I remember this happening was a good few years ago and after the Scottish commentator had said "And that is a great goal for us, really crucial", the English commentator along side him said, "I must just remind our viewers that 'us' is Scotland for this particular match". Feck right off.

Good luck to England though, hope they do well. And with Argentina looking like they might not qualify that is one of your bogey teams oot the way already.

They were Rangers fans not Scottish fans.

Rangers fans = wish they were English.

Scottish fans = glad they're not English.

Seems terribly convenient. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the overwhelming majority of Rangers fans are proud Scots. At least it seemed that way when groups of innocent people had to dodge the glass bottles they were throwing.

For what it's worth I hoped Scotland would qualify. But the insinuation a few posts up that Scottish football fans are somehow more civilised than their English counterparts is patently ridiculous.
