Why did we perform so badly? Caldwell either has concrete boots or runs through treacle!

Alexander was never an option over Hartley either.
Any thoughts welcome!

Obviously the sending off changed the game, not to mention that Riise could easily have found himself walking down the tunnel too. But as I hate being a what-if type person the simple fact of the matter is we have no quality.

McFadden showed flashes of talent but, as usual, the ball just bounced off Kenny Miller. We always seem to miss an early chance and then fizzle out which is exactly what happened.

Armstrong is not an international footballer, Scott Brown had yet another shocker and there was just too much expectation on Fletcher. I like Fletcher but he is not a miracle worker - bottom line is that we need Barry Ferguson back in CM as he can grab a game by the scruff of the neck against tosh like Norway.

The fact we got spanked 4-0 just goes to show that with Scottish football it is one step forwards, three steps back. The good foundations that were put in place by McLeish and Walter Smith have eroded away unfortunately. I like to get behind the team but I was absolutely gutted when I heard Burley had taken over as manager, no offense to the bloke but he is not an international class manager.

I think that if we don't qualify for the World Cup he should do the right thing and resign.

Hansen and McLeish said something last night that was very interesting too. They questioned what has happened to the "conveyor belt" of talent that used to come out of Scotland. I think we definitely need to have a good long look at the youth set-up and start churning out some world class players again. In my lifetime all that I can remember Scotland qualifying for is Euro 96 and World Cup 98, I am desperate to go to a tournament and really hope things turn around soon although I am not getting my hopes up about visiting South Africa next summer.

There it is.

Scotland used to have one of the best records around for world cup qualification until 2002 when Vogts took over. I always felt that Craig Brown produced results above what you'd expect from the mediocre team he was given.

I fear this is going to be another world cup where we don't qualify after ending up behind the Norwegians. Even if we make the play offs we'd be up against some sides who are quite honestly much much better than we are.
