Golf in London

I'm planning on getting back into golf. I'm absolutely terrible, so I'm going to get a whole load of pro lessons and mix it up with a load of practice.

I work not too far from the Central London Golf Club (Earlsfield / Wandsworth) so think I'll have my lessons there. The range is pretty short, but they do have a 9 hole course so can easily have some playing lessons too.

However, I live in Surrey Quays and would like to find somewhere nearby I can pop to on a weekend to get some practice in, does anyone know of anywhere around this area?

My advice is to try posting in the Surrey region and see if you can get some local knowledge from there. Just in case some of those members don't look in the sports section.

The name of the area not-with-standing Surrey Quays is actually in London, just by Canary Wharf. I did think about posting in the London forum but it's not exactly alive with activity!

I take your point though, and shall pop a question in there too, just on the off-chance.

If Croydon isn't too far then Addington Court has 2 18s and a 9 hole suitable for beginners and is fairly cheap as golf courses go.

Thanks Toasty, I'll check that out for a bit of on-course action.

I've discovered (i.e. been told) that there's a big driving range down the A20 (World of Golf Sidcup) which is about an 8 mile drive so I'll check that out this weekend.

I use a driving range on the A406. No too far from Canary Wharf (you can see it in the distance).
