Ive recently started playing football again after many many years of not playing. Every time Ive played so far though Ive got blisters on the ball of my feet and one week I had blisters underneath the blisters that were there from the previous week! Needless to say that got pretty painful as they went right down to the flesh.
Is there anything I can do to prevent them? My boots feel ok to wear but maybe theyre too tight?

Here are the boots - http://www.prodirectsoccer.com/prodinfo.asp?DPID=P...

What is the best thing to do once you have blisters? Pop them, cut them off, or just leave them? I played again last night and yet again Ive got a blister on the ball of my left foot which is quite deep under the skin.

I found it was a certain pair of socks that gave me blisters. Those thick 'old school' stye ones. Now we have these my feet are much better http://www.prosportuk.com/a3/rugby_equipment/rugby...

EDIT: the bonus is that they also do not fall down so you don't look scruffy!

2 pairs should do it..!

Thin pair - then the football socks.
Just like the 1000 mile sock range on the high street.

Also, get ready for the footballers toe..!

I tried two pairs last night. A pair of running socks and then the normal football socks on top. To be fair this week the blisters havent been as bad but Im not sure if its coincidence or not.

Those rugby socks look good though. My socks are always sliding down.

Even after 80 mins and playing on some pitches that can only be compared to the Somme they stay up with out ties. They are nice and light and don't hold the water. I suspect you may well use shin pads, I havn't tried them with shin pads so can't say how good they are with them.

I dont bother with shin pads as we're only playing on Astro turf so dont have to worry about studs. I might try a pair of those and see how I get on.

As for dealing with blisters once already there? Whats the best thing to do? Ive always popped them before and then cut the skin away once its dried but some people say its best to leave them and not pop or drain them?

Whats best?!

Leave them...
2 Tiny pin pricks to gt the fluid out. Feet in a bowl of saltened water - hardens the skin when dry.

Keep off your feet if possible.

Never cut away the skin, as the softer fleshy skin is exposed, the following week will be worse.

2 pairs of socks act like there is a blister already there, the movement of one sock over the other replicates what happens in a blister. A bit of Vaseline between your foot and the sock will also help.

Other than all of that. Take it like a man...! HTH

Hardening the skin is exactly the wrong thing to do!

Try this, worked for me when i was running.....

At night time, take one old pair of socks.

Slather vaseline all over your feet then pop the old socks on.

Go to bed, repeat this for a few night or so.

No more blisters.

Put on sock.

Apply a tonne of vaseline to the outside of the sock and the inside heel of the boot.

Put boot on.

Enjoy blister free footy.

also found this.............

By Bill Noulin, Coach, Kinross Road Runners.

Petroleum jelly for blisters

In the week before the marathon, coat your feet with petroleum jelly each night before bedtime, and then pull on some socks. The jelly will soften the calluses and skin on your feet. By the end of the week, your skin will be so supple and lubricated that blisters will have trouble forming during your race.

Same here, started playing football on astro, getting blisters... I suspect the socks I am using are no good. Standard football socks, not helping. I have heard that talc powder also helps, before putting on the socks..

Yeah I tried some powder on my feet where I normally get blisters before I put on my socks last night so maybe that helped too.
Lots of things to try. Hmmmmm
