Catchweight (195 lb) bout: Rich Franklin vs. Wanderlei Silva
Heavyweight bout: Cheick Kongo vs. Cain Velasquez
Welterweight bout: Mike Swick vs. Ben Saunders
Welterweight bout: Marcus Davis vs. Dan Hardy
Lightweight bout: Spencer Fisher vs. Caol Uno
Heavyweight bout: Mirko Filipović vs. Mostapha Al-turk
Pretty decent looking card. I think Franklin is going to beat Silva and it will be interesting to see how Cro Cop looks coming back at heavy.

I wish we see Mirko return to his old form. After losing to Gonzaga in a bad way, it will have dented his confidence a little. A win for him would set the ball rolling to make the HW division more entertaining.
He has had two wins outside of the UFC since loosing to Kongo.Edited by dr.pepper on Friday 12th June 16:19
This is a 1 fight contract he is on.

Marcus Davis vs. Dan Hardy... fking awesome action!
Yep, Silva vs. Franklin was a war too. I had Silva winning but I can definitely understand how Franklin was given 2 of the rounds, close fight. Meanwhile Kongo badly needs a ground game because Velasquez was done while the fight was stood up.p.s. The lack of adverts was great

cro cop has signed a 3 fight deal with dream, royally screwing over the UFC and dana white, white is apoplectic
the silva franklin fight got fight of the night somehow, god knows how it was st, both gassed after the first and silva should just hang them up, hes not got the same ability to explode anymore.
Kongo is 34, hes never going to get a ground game now especially training with kickbxers at wolfslair, hed be better off going to K1 really hes never going to be in proper contention for a title shot.
In other news, tim sylvia was fighting at the weekend on some crappy card, he was fighting 48 year old washed up boxer ray mercer, this is what happened to the stupid knock kneed 311lbs ex ufc champion, this gif is of the whole fight too, al 9 seconds of it

You are correct. It's a bit of a shame as it would have been good to see Crocop (if in shape), deal his left high kick to Lesnar.
If he beats Al-Turk, I think you will see him back in the UFC and will be able to progress through the division.Fittster said:

Not sure about the decision personally, Davis seemed more effective on the ground. XitUp said:
Well, I got all but one of my picks right on mmaplayground.com
Why did Kongo think it was a good idea to keep clinching with a strong wrestler?
I picked kongo and wandy to win, oops! I couldnt understand that with Kongo either, he dropped velasquez to his knees with strikes, hes a bit like a heavyweight Houston Jardine! Why did Kongo think it was a good idea to keep clinching with a strong wrestler?
Couple of questions about UFC/MMA...
I've not been watching to long so am unsure of the set up. Are there lots of different leagues that they fight in? I was told that Fedor Emilie-thingy was the world champion but can't see him in the UFC. Can someone explain how it works? He seem's to fight in Japan?
Also, I was watching some old UFC fights from the 90's ad blokes were getting headbutted on the floor and all sorts but that seem's to have been stopped. what are the rules of engagement, as it were?
Any decent websites you recomend?
Cheers guys.

MMA is the sport, UFC is just a promotion in that sport.I've not been watching to long so am unsure of the set up. Are there lots of different leagues that they fight in? Fedor is the best heavyweight in the world, his last two fights and his next one were/are in America, under the Affliction promotion. The UFC has a pretty weak HW division in comparison to it's other weight classes.

First few had very little rules, I think no biting or eye gauging was about as far as it went, no rounds, no time limits, no judges. More rules were added over the years, read this for a bit more detail - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mixed_martial_arts_ru...Lil' Joe said:
