Well, I stayed up till six watching it and I'm pretty zonked now. Some amazing fights.

Sherk is an idiot for (yet again) trying to out box someone with a greater reach and better movement than him.

Chael Sonen dominated Dan Miller but was boring doing so. I hate Team Quest.

Great KO from Drew McFedries, I was betting on Professor X frown.

Great KO from Krystof Sozinski too.

Matt Serra should have won that fight in my eyes, but maybe that's cos I like him and hate Hughes. He did more damage on the feet and was going for subs on the ground. Hughes got some really good takedowns but didn't do much damage when down there.

Machida is a God.

He was going for a takedown but it seemed to be more out of desperation than any real desire to get the fight to the ground. It's a shame it didn't last longer as they are both exciting strikers.

Machida looks unstoppable at the moment, I think Rampage will give him a good fight though.

Rampage has power but he's not quick enough for Machida imo. I can see Lyoto holding the belt for a very long time.

I really wanna see Shogun get a shot now he's healthy again.

UFC98 was a good one.

Thoroughly enjoyed the undercard and it was nice to see Hughes & Serra finally fight. It was closer than I would have liked but, Hughes was clearly the winner. Serra spent too much time on his back just waiting for the referee to stand them up. He needed to be busier on the ground to have any chance of winning a decision.

Edgar looked very impressive against Sherk who was far too one dimensional in their fight.

Machida thoroughly deserved the win and I was glad to see him win in spectacular style. Would love to see him fight Shogun next but, it'll probably be Rampage.

Mcfeddries - Damn that is some big power, unlucky not to get KO of teh night.
the undercard fights looked good, on the US broadcast they showed two fights after the Machida/Evans fight.

Can't understand Sherks fight plan. Although he is very strong does not have KO power, so why try and stand with the guy. Should of Taken him down and sat on him with GnP.

Hughes / Serra - Normally cannot stand Serra but he was more impressive to me than hughes, and i am abig Hughes fan. It is now time for Hughes & serra to retire. The game has moved on big time, i doubt that Hughes could live with 6-7 of the top welterweights. He certainly is no longer Top 10.
At least we no longer have to hear Serra whinning on.

Machida / Evans - What a fight. I am so happy that Evans lost the fight especially in that manner. Machida like GSP & Anderson Silva will move the level of the whole division on. I cannot think of anybody in LHW that will beat him. Amazing that 3-4 fights ago he was considered evasive & boring.

ETA was also impressed with Krystof Sozinski. 2nd fight in 5 weeks and what a performance.

Ya think?
What did Hughes do other than get a few take downs? I hate the way fights are scored in America, you shouldn't get points for take downs if you do nothing with them.

He's always been one dimensional. But he usually picks the dimension he's good at...he didn't in this fight.

It is Rampage, they said at the post fight press conference.

Anyone into Japanese MMA? Dream 9 was on this morning (which is tonight in Japan). The last three fights were a huge let down but apart from that it was great. The Super Hulk GP was stupid but entertaining. I think Tokoro vs Cullum could be in the running for foty, I'll post a vid when it's up. Takaya vs Maeda was good too, even though I bet on the loser.

You know Bob Sapp was in it biggrin And Jose Canseco was fighting Hong Man Choi.
This is a promo pic for it that only Minowaman turned up to.

Tokoro vs Cullum - http://mixedmartialartvideos.com/2009/05/26/hideo-...

The Super Hulk fights are on that site too, as well as some of the good fights. JZ vs Kawajiri was good too.

Hughes controlled the fight which is why I think he got the win. I just felt Serra was a bit too lazy off his back, he went for a couple of submissions and that was about it. Considering his BJJ credentials, I would have expected a bit more.

True, I think the relative speed and movement of Edgar just made it a bit more obvious.

Ah, cheers. I didn't see the conference.

True, but like I said, I'm not a fan of the US form of judging that rewards taking someone down and just holding them, it makes for a boring fight. And Serra has never been great off his back in mma.

I'm just amazed he was daft enough to try the same game plan that failed against BJ. I think he just got tired of people calling him a boring wrestler. He was a boring wrestler, but he was very good at it.
