anyone know of a decent sports shop that sells football boots (actually astroturf boots) i have been having knee problems and was told that the cheap boots i currently have may be adding to the problem.

Need to find a shop that know what they're doing, rather than the usual staff in shops like JJB! Guess its a bit like finding a decent pair of running shoes. Different arch support etc.

Needs to be in Surrey.

Thanks

Not sure of any shops, but http://www.prodirectsoccer.com/home.asp have pretty much every boot on the market at the moment.

I'm after some with good support and cushioning as i play 5-a-side on fairly hard ground. Can anyone recommend some or am i better finding a decent shop?

The last pair i had the heel disintegrated and i discovered that the inside was made of a criss=crossed plastic mesh with a thin insole over the top!

I own a sports goods business and carry a large range of astroturf shoes, but am well out of your area..

I would suggest if you are having foot problems because of the hard surface, once you have chosen a pair, insert some "Sorbothane" full strike insoles inside, (around £15.99), and they will cushion the impact on your ankes, shins and knees....

(Imo) Football boots are crap these days, like plastic ballet shoes....... not a patch on the models produced 20/25 years ago, Puma King, Adidas World Cup/Copa Mundial, Patrick Keegan Top etc.....biggrin

thanks for that are there any that you'd recommend as being particularly cushioning?

the pair i have now cost £15 from Sport Soccer, got them before i started playing regularly.

or is it worth just keeping them and putting the insoles in?

I suffer from "heel strike" injuries quite a lot, and looked around for ages - couldn't find many astro boots with decent cushioning.
Finally went for a pair of Puma King Allrounds and put in some Sorbothane insoles as mentioned above - job done!

You should be able to get a decent pair of Astroturf shoes for around £25/£35.....Puma and Mitre do some decent ones..., never buy sports footwear mail order, always best to try them on in a shop first.....Especially running shoes....

Your choice as to whether to go down the Sorbothane insole route, but they DO work, doctors recommend them...expensive but worth it (imo).....

There are three main types....The built up ones (Double strike) with the sorbothane (red stuff) in the front and heel, flat ones ( Full strike) with the sorbothene throughout, or you can buy just the heel pads....(around £8)...

These are Double strike:-
