Massive day on Sunday for the North East. It's obviously two from four:

Sunderland 36pts
Hull 35pts
Toon 34pts
Boro 32pts
Baggies 31pts - Relegated

Some killer fixtures for the protagonists:

Villa v Newcastle - Villa scrapping for 5th will surely have too much for a woeful Toon - home win
Hull v Man U - Can't see Hull getting the points, even against the kids - away win
Sunderland v Chelsea - Chelsea are a juggernaut and Sunderland won't be able to stop them - away win
West Ham v Boro - Hammers fragile with nothing to play for will possibly lose to a Boro side scrapping for their lives, alas by not enough to help Gareth Southgate's side - away win?!

Gives:

Sunderland 36
Hull 35
Boro 35 - Relegated
Toon 34 - Relegated
Baggies 31 - Relegated

I now reckon Hull will survive on goal difference, as I don't see them losing by enough, and Boro winning by enough, to affect the outcome.

Villa v Newcastle - Villa very poor of late and playing a Newcastle fighting for its very existence - Away win
Hull v Man U - Can just see Hull playing out of their skin and getting a draw unless United field a strong team - Draw
Sunderland v Chelsea - Chelsea are a juggernaut and Sunderland won't be able to stop them - Away win
West Ham v Boro - Hammers fragile with nothing to play for against a very bland and uninspiring Boro - Draw

Gives:

Newcastle 37
Sunderland 36 Goal Difference -19
Hull 36 Goal Difference -24 Relegated
Boro 36 Goal Difference -28 Relegated
WBA 31 - Relegated

Lucky, lucky Shearer/Toon I suspect!

Dull to draw with Man Utd, Boro lose at West Ham, Mackems lose to Chelsea and Barcodes lose at Villa

Leaves bottom 3 as it is now

Hull to win, Boro draw, Sunderland lose. Newcastle score snakey/disputed penalty/blatantly offside last minute winner to send Sunderland down

I had a bet with a mate just after Harry left Pompey. I predicted that Pompey, West Brom,Middlesborough would go down. He played it safe by having WestBrom, Hull and Stoke. If only Adams would have stayed as manager at Pompey.I'd would probably got the full set!If Newcastle go down I'll look forward to the "look what a big club we are" comments when 17,000 turn up for the home games.I've got a sneaky feeling they might scrape out of it though, at the expense of Hull.

And London Road! hehe

They cam here in the League Cup a few years ago and won 0-1 with a dinky Kevin Sheady free kick ... funny how the mighty have fallen.

Going down - MBoro, WBA and Newcastle - Villa will turn them over with no problem - they're away plus Villa won't want to lie down - Newcastle might have the Shearer get at 'em attitude but they don't have the quality players to compete ...

I think the positions will remain the same.

As a Sunderland fan, we are only staying up as a result of other teams being even worse than us. A truely shocking season.

As much as I dislike Newcastle and don't really give a hoot about 'Boro, its a real shame that NE football is in such a bad way.
