I would have to day, reading this, that he makes some very good points. Thoughts?

As the fan of a small championship team, this makes utterly refreshing reading.
The Premier League has ruined English football, not strengthened it.
I know many fans of many non-Premier League fans who don't want to be promoted - there's clearly something broken in the game.
Platini, unlike Blatter, comes from a football background and loves football - it's in his blood. He wants to fix football. Platini is clearly hurting.
Blatter wants the gravy train to roll on - an interesting juxtaposition. Good luck Platini.

Platini makes some points (some valid, some notso), however the fans you know are clearly talking rubbish. Sounds more like they're trying to excuse the fact that they aren't good enough to go up so try to "justify" it by saying they don't "want" to go up.Dracoro said:

Football is dying.
I'm a Watford fan - I'd love us to win the C'ship, in fact last year, for the opening half of the season we were looking dead certs to do so. Many Watford fans didn't want it, and I agree: I have no hunger at all to see us in the P'ship.
I don't see the point in our top league. What is the fun in 1 or 2 clubs having all the fun, and smaller clubs really struggling.
Stoke have done well to stay up, but will be relegated next year - it's a dead cert. Yawn

As for my team, on the last game of the season we won to stop us going down to the 2nd (4th in my book ) division so yes I DO support a lower tier team!
I'd love to get up to the premiership, we did have a spell in the top flight in the early 80s and been traumatic ride ever since LOL.

Yeah its awful how much financial support the top English clubs have these days. It would be terrible if Real Madrid based much of their historical success on, i dont know, government money and forced transfers of players. And I notice no Premier league clubs have been relegated for match fixing like Juventus. Or involved with the Mafia like Inter.
But thats all fine, cos Man U and Chelsea have lots of money.

It does have too many bloody foreigners though. It's been detrimental to the national game, and had brought all the bad points from Europe into the equation (diving, etc.).But thats all fine, cos Man U and Chelsea have lots of money.

I'm not his biggest fan, but a lot of what Platini said in that article makes sense.
