Added the spoilers bit incase the thread carries on past the fight.

Well.

Not long to go, has Floyd Snr got Hatton into shape? I sincerely hope so.

Manny is a tough customer, very fast, and has a good KO record (albeit in lower weigh divisions) he'll certainly cause Hatton problems.

My prediction(s) cheating here wink
  • Hatton KO or Pacquaio unanimous points decision.
Don't want to call it. I got the PBF one right, and personally, I think Manny is quick and smart enough to avoid a toe to toe with Ricky for a full 12 rounds, so I think it could be the points decision.

If Hatton can pin him down, pressure him early, and has an improved defence like Floyd keeps telling us, then I think he could slow Manny down and possibly KO him around rounds 8-10.

We'll find out at the weekend, but one thing I'm very confident of - this will be a good fight to watch.

Really looking forward to this!! I think Hatton is a much better fighter post PBF, look how he outboxed Malanagi, he is just so strong at the weight, the question for me is what happens if Hatton gets hurt? will he revert to old habits? I think Hatton will stop him in 8.

Its for the Reduction in VAT from 17.5% to 15% - The cost would have been £15 but Sky are showing you that they are passing on the VAT reduction to their customers by charging you this strange price.

My tuppence:

This is a strange fight that is very tough to call but the bookies aren't silly and they make Manny the fav so...

I think Ricky is gonna ship some punches to get at Manny so its gonna be about how hurtful Manny's punches are at this weight. If they are still carrying power then it could be a re-run of the PBF fight. If not I'll take Hatton to win whenever he finally catches up with him in the corner.

It's a tough call.

I think it's possible that both guys could win by KO. Oddly enough, I never thought I would say that Hatton could lose by KO but after the PBF fight it's clear he can.

Pacman is unproven at anything above 130lbs in my opinion. Oscar Dela Hoya was nothing other than a shadow of his former self and acted like a punch bag for 8 rounds. It was very sad to see a once fantastic fighter land only 51 punches on Pacman in their fight when two years prior to that he threw 587 punches at the quicker PBF and gave a fairly good account of himself.

I think that if Pacman hits Hatton and he doesn't hurt him, he's in big trouble. I have no doubts that when (not if) Hatton catches Pacman, he is going to hurt him.

If Pacman dances around and potshots Hatton then I can see him winning a UD.

My prediction is Hatton by stoppage but don't quote me on that one, it's a tough call. smile

It's the bookies that are making it difficult for me to call. Manny 1/2 and Hatton 6/4

I'd like to go Hatton, but as mentioned, bookies are not often wrong.

This is going to be a terrific fight. Manny is rightfully seen as the best p2p boxer right now, and I think there are a lot of ifs and buts about this fight

I personally fancy Manny to catch Hatton fairly regularly and I feel his punches will carry enough power to open up the cut-prone Hatton. As said, Hatton is a far better boxer since joing up with Mayweather snr and it will show in this fight

Worth the money though, no matter what the outcome

I will go for Manny UD after cutting Hatton up a bit

Ill give with the Hitman.

I think Mayweather will havetaught him a few things about ringcraft, moving and working your way round a ring to bring your opponent into your range and when he manages that Hatton will unleash his bodyshots and the Pacman wont take them.

Thats my worry. He's not been cut for a while now, probably not since the Maussa fight. Anything can happen though, just look at Khan v Barrera when a head clash caused the demise of MAB. I'm thinking a Hatton rib tickler in the 2nd or 3rd will end this early.

I won't be watching this as I'm at Silverstone but will be huddled round my radio at 4am with a brew on the go.

What time do we think they're going to be in the ring..?? 3am..??

I was at the de la Hoya v Pacquaio and after seeing that demolition job I can only call a Manny win.

To be fair, I think I could have done a number on Oscar that night.

If you're basing your prediction on that fight, I think you're miles out. I don't think a single boxing fan on the planet saw Oscar turn up that night.

I'm not calling it. Manny can win on points or cuts, Hatton will only win via stoppage.

On a side note has anyone been watching the Hatton/Pacquaio 24/7 programs on sky sports..?? Superb program.

Does anyone believe Roach when he said he could see the pop marks in de la Hoya's arms as he stepped in the ring from the IV drips to rehydrate him after the weigh-in..??

yes

I believe it.

Their plan was to keep away from Dela Hoya and jump in with quick 1-2 combos. You could visably see Roach eyeing Dela Hoya up and down abnd immediatly after the stare down he walks over to Pacman and says something along the lines of "He is dehyrated. Get on him and pressure him immediatly".

Anyway, I completely discount Pacmans win against Dela Hoya and I don't think he stands a good chance of beating Hatton based on this fight. I think he stands more chance of winning when you watch his Barrera, Morales and Marquez fights.

How much do you think they boiled him down to get him under the weight..?? Do you think he could lose 7-8lbs and then rehyrate within 24hrs..??

You have to remember that there is 'weigh-in' weight and 'fight weight'.

Hatton always weighs 140 on the dot but when they weigh him before the fight he weighs between 150 - 152.

Dela Hoya turned up to fight Pacman weighing 144.5 (147 weight limit) and was still very weight drained on fight night, so much so that they put him on the scales pre-fight and he apparently only weighed 150 (this is hearsay but I have no doubt he was still dehydrated) so they tried to get as much fluid into him as possible.

I firmly believe that Mayweather is a more skilled fighter than Pacman yet Dela Hoya only landed 52 punches on Pacman over 8 rounds but yet he was able to throw well in excess of 500 punches against Mayweather over 12 rounds. I think he declined a great deal in 2 years and after his loss to Pacman his only choice was retirement.

The Dela Hoya fight aside, I really rate Pacman as a fighter and always have done. I think we're in for a treat this weekend regardless of who wins although I'll be rooting for Hatton.

Thanks Robatron for your insight - I think we're in for a stormer of a fight. I'd like to see Hatton win from a patriotic point of view but I respect Manny more as a fighter. He also carries his nations expectations on his shoulders and I think he handles that pressure tremendously well.

i do think too much is being made about size difference.people forget that manny turned pro at 16 so was still a boy when fighting at fly weight.i believe his real weight division is lightweght.his 2 fights with marquez are the most insightful for me.i`d argue that morales and barrera were past their best at the times of their fights with manny but marquez was on the button.the first fight was breathtaking and if manny hadn`t come out like a bull at a gate and knocked marquez down three times he would have lost the fight.(juan boxed his head off for the rest of the fight).again i feel that marquez should have got the nod in their second split decision affair.the reason i bring this up is that juan manuel is a pressure fighter with good counter punching.didn`t let manny breathe.hatton is relentless in the pressure department and while not a big counterpuncher seems a much more slippery opponent under floyd`s tutlidge.hatton should be all over him up and downstairs while presenting a more mobile target.......................................................................................................................................................................................hatton by decision!! but its gonna be quite close

Playing devils advocate a bit, I hope the referee lets the fight flow.

It ruined the PBF fight in my opinion, Hatton wasnt allowed to work and had no other idea's.
While he probably still would of lost to PBF it would of been a far better fight.

I hope this isnt a factor sat night? who is the ref? anyone know.
