Rather than resurrecting year old content from the archive I thought I'd start a new thread.

I know there are probably far more suitable forums to be asking this question, but the last thing I need as another forum to distract my attention! I'm looking to buy a couple of Berettas, either used in as new condition or new. I'm after a Silver Pigion III Ltd Edition (up to 1.8k) and a 391 Urika 2 Camo (up to £750).

Does anyone know of any good deals at your local dealer, or anyone thinking of offloading one of their toys?

Shooting in Ireland.

Does anyone know how the shotgun laws in southern Ireland differ from the UK? Google hasn't been too fruitful and has only produced application laws. I'm planning to do a bit of clay shooting in Ireland and I want to know if my UK licence will enable me to shoot without having to pay for an instructor.

Anyone recommend some good lightweight shotguns?

Looking at doing some clay pidgeon shooting about to get my SGC so will be looking at getting a gun soon, something good, for a budget of about 600

Hi Pits. You don't really want anything too light for clay shooting. Field guns are generally lighter because they're designed to be carried around for hours, but not shot as frequently. A light gun accelerates faster and has more recoil, so clay guns have more weight to give you better control and help slow the recoil. That said, a 'sporter' is a great all round gun and you should be able to get a second hand over and under with a vented rib at your budget.

At that price look at Miroku and Bettinsoli. Make sure you handle a few different guns for see what feels best for you. You'll probably decide to spend a little bit more than that once you start looking properly though! You'll hit second hand Silver Pigeons and Synergy (more clay orientated) at about £1k.

For £600 you can get a nice used semi auto which will be fine for clays, but expect a little snobbery around the hunters. Most shoots won't allow them at all.
