A friend has been trying to get me involved to watch a bit of Super league with him (Cas).

So thought I would watch the TV highlights today before.

It does seem there is less action and a little bit slow than union. There also seems to be a distinct lack of ability to catch a kicked ball.

Are they not showing most of the game play in the highlights?

Here, here. I was at the Saints v Leeds game on Friday night and then came home to watch on Sky. You had to be there. Awesome game.

Get tickets for the 4th round cup match at Leeds for a repeat. It'll be on the BBC, but they're scensoredt and covering league.

I'm with you on Eddie & Stevo - I watch despite them, not because of them. I've noticed recently that Stevo always makes a reference to "the 2nd stanza" early in the 2nd half - as if he's a poet or something. WTF?

League slower than Union? Can't agree with that one.

The thing that annoys me about Union (apart from the aimless ping-pong kicking) is that if you break a couple of tackles and accidentally get yourelf isolated, then you're liable to turn over the ball. In League this doesn't happen.

And the reason League players have problems under the high ball is that they're normally jumping under pressure from a kick on the last tackle. Although ... I'd like to see Delon Armitage have a go at League - I reckon he'd be pretty useful.

Having played both codes, and spent may an hour on freezing terraces the problem league has is not one of speed, it is a substantially quicker game than union, and a lot harder on the body. It just doesn't translate well on to television.

Go with your mate, if its a good match you wll get a good understanding of the speed of the game and ferocity of impact.
