Do you remember your first game ?
Discussion
In any sport, watching or participating. Mine was the 4th round of the FA cup in 1974, Wolves v Millwall. The Lions had just beaten Everton 2-0 at Goodison and I was working part-time after school at the fruit and veg market helping load the trucks. One of the drivers arranged a mini bus to Wolverhampton and I went along, from memory Wolves won 1-0 in front of a crowd of 31,000 and had great players like Dougan and Bailey playing for them.
What's yours ?

Just tried checking the date of my first game but can't find it. Mind, it's been so long I got a few facts wrong - it was 1973 and the fifth round and Wolves went on to the semis where they were knocked out by the losers, Leeds United.
Edited to add - 24th February 1973.

Playing, It would of been for Maple JMI school at about 6-7 years old it was all about 15-20 little boys running around the pitch within 6-10 feet of each other and the ball. Right wing if I remember correctly.
Watching, would of been St. Albans FC, we used to sneak on to the players bus as well for away games.
However my first proper game of football was Chelsea v Tottenham Nov '71.
I was 7 years old and me and my 9 year old brother, travelled to Fulham Broadway to see the game and gained entry via the old ticket offices which were a row of old shed's behind the Shed. Walking up those concrete steps was like someone had switched something on inside me as I reached the top and out of the stone cold, slate grey day was the bright green field floodlit and was my first proper breath taken away moment, along with looked after by the biggest bunch of scary men I have ever seen. The Bovril from the tea bar never has tasted as good as it did that day. We won that day 1-0, Charlie Cooke, and I became a life long Chelsea supporter.
I can tell you that the thrashing I got from my mum for being their didn't even penetrate the utmost feeling of belonging that day.
I took my son a couple of years ago (he was 3) to see his first game at Stamford Bridge, was also a 1-0 win against the Spurs, the delicious symmetry was not lost on me.
Great days, both of them

You've just hit on an everlasting memory for me. My uncle used to take me to different games and without a doublt the first impression ever to stay in my mind was the bright green I could see loom into focus as I walked through the back of the stand - every youngster should be able to see the bright green grass from the turnstile to capture the imagination of the game.Killer2005 said:
Excellent goal, can't say I remember seeing that before.CedGTV said:

Clarence Park, is that tree still in the middle of the terrace?I went to St Albans City about 15 years ago, they played Stevenage in the FA Cup, the ground was packed, can't remember the score though.
