Anyone on PH into Paintballing?

Hey guys, im just getting into paintballing and wondered if there is anyone else on PH who is mad enough to do it (i'm sure there are :P)
What equipment have you got, and how often do you go, and most importantly- what sites can you recommend?

I've been twice. Both in some place in Surry. Was good fun, I was gonna get a marker and start with some mates as the price of balls was epic at these 'free entry and 100 balls free' places (I used them in about 15 seconds)

But then they moved into airsoft...

Maybe when I have some cash I will do the same

Love it - no good at it though.....just an excuse to roll around in the mud making machine gun noises whilst firing off paints balls at people you can't recognise as being on your own team or not!

There are 3 within 1/2 hour of me, all very good - not too big so a team of mates can usually make up a game.....one in Elsham off M180, one round the corner from me in Messingham and one in Bawtry, which has the the Preditor thing and a helicopter...which is cool!

The Instructor lined up Team A opposite Team B and we had a "Mexican stand-off" to waste our unused ammunition at the end of the session. I went for it, but got the "dead man's click". Then got slaughtered.

Used to play seriously a long time ago, circa 1990/1.

Still got a Phantom pump gun that will reliably chrono between 295 and 299ft/s but I've not played in years.

Mine was just a bloody good shot by someone....although never go for your stag do/if you're best man!!!! I think at the sites around here it's called the 'walk of pain'

never did paintball as there seemed to be little skill involved in it, just round and wildly shoot in any direction in a blind firing fashion.

I went into airsoft, which is ace, can be sneaky like a sneaky person is sneaky, use a gun that looks like a gun, the games are usually based around an epic film.

We run a Heat game at the site, which is just awesome, 4 people first have to break into the "bank" then try and escape with the loot, it works unbelivably well, 4 guys against 12 coppers usually with pistols and shotguns, and a few swat types lurking around with machine guns.

good fun, not only that I get great satisfaction shooting people in the face with what everyone else refers to as my "compensator" I prefer to call it the manliest of manly guns, gas blow back Desert Eagle, scares the living st out of most people they just run away before I shoot them, if I do shoot them they usually fall over in pain on the floor. Also good when everyone is test firing there guns before a game

so what is airsoft? How does it work, is it better than paintballing, what does it fire? how does it differ?

I think airsoft is more shooting ball bearings at each other then paintballs. From the few times ive been shot by friends/brother, i can tell you it fecking hurts.

I played a lot in the early 90's also back in the days of the Mayhem Tigers and the Silly Sausage Section. I had a Bushmaster and a Bud, the latter being devastatingly accurate.

Used to play a bit. I've still got my Spyder AMG somewhere - electric, full auto beastie. The best paintball related thing I ever did was one of the annual warped sports 'big game'. Biggest paintball gfame in europe - go's on over the whole day with hundreds of people on each side, APC's trundling about etc.

Went for the first time at the weekend, £15 for every 125 paintballs, didn't last long.

Airsoft uses proper looking guns,

Airsoft use small BBs 0.22grams iirc, fired at around 300fps. Its more of a game where you can play the swat team, or the terrorists, it hurts like paintball, maybe a bit less, but you dont get covered in paint, and its alot more stealth like tactics, working as a team

Gun wise as far as most are concerned they look and if you buy decent ones feel like real guns, I only play urban, so a pistol is that is needed really, imagine if you got Rainbow Six and played it real life, thats sorta what its like, good fun

Loved it every time i go and need to look at getting a proper mask and gloves....

Its so much fun shooting mates at point blank range in the ass.... in my defence i was hiding in the undergrowth and they decided that using the tree in front of me was adequate cover and didnt notice me.... so i did what every good friend would do.... shoot the fker as many times as possible and making him scream in pain.... best bit was that 3 friends when to the same spot and i shot them all.

Then there was the time i shot my mates at point blank range in the arm and stomach.... stupid feckers should make sure the hut is empty before walking past the door

Actually shooting someone right in the knob end with a BB and watching them fall over and whince is by far better than shooting them up the arse

Did that on a stag do to the groom... the bride was a little pissed at me. In my defence i shot him in the back and he turned round as the 2nd salvo went in during the game of hunt the Stag and BM.
