Not sure whether this was on the local or national news; but did anyone see the latest build up for the upcoming fight against Manny Pacquiao? They were in Manchester and rather than all the Mayweather bobbins where he was giving it all the talk, as most of these build up things do, Pacquiao went to Hatton's local and had a game of darts with him and everyone was all smiles. Then later stood toe to toe in the Trafford Centre Hatton got on his tip toes so he was taller and him and Pacquiao both just started laughing. It was quite refreshing to see when compared to all the crap that usually goes with these type of fights.

There is NO WAY I would want to fight Hatton. Nails.

Max respect - when he's not fighting he lives on Vindaloos and Kebabs!!

The way he boils down then balloons up between fights is scary.

I once has to lose 2kg to weigh in at 89kg for a thai boxing fight (moons ago) and have nostalgic memories of skipping for an hour with bin bags on, shadow boxing in the sauna and having a hot bath with 4kg of cooking salt in it. Bloody worked!!

No fun though really and Hatton might find he ends up with health problems in the long term if he carries on like he does.

this is going to be a really tough fight for hatton though. Manny Pacquiao was awesome against dela hoya in his last fight.

Pacman was indeed awesome but he was up against a severly weight drained, dehydrated and shot to pieces Dela Hoya.

He hasn't fought anyone with the physical strength of Hatton nor anyone with the ability to cut the ring off and stay in your face. In the Paulie fight he showed alot more head movement and worked behind his jab so hopefully we'll see more of the same from him against Pacman.

I'm going against the grain and predicting a Hatton win.

Ditto! It's down at LW which is his perfect weight. Billy Graham was never happy with going up to welter for his two fights and he got found out by PBF.

Unfortunately I won't be going or watching on tv as I expect to be down Silverstone for the FIA GT's. Time to get the wireless out and set the alarm for 4am.

Say what you like about PBF, but what he did in the build up to the Hatton fight meant it was huge box office. Clever bloke!

Hatton will do well to tag Manny, he really is a class act, although not PBF class.

I think Manny will avoid Ricky like the plague, and unless Ricky can get close and slow him down early on.....erm....I see two possible outcomes....

Manny on a clear (unanimous) points victory

or

Ricky stoppage

Depends who gets their game plan right.

With respect to the Oscar fight, well ODLH was apparently 'fighting' at 10 stone 7 - incredible given what he could have entered the ring at. As much as I think Manny is superb, I think his confidence was artificially inflated from that particular fight, Ricky will be a very tough customer, but Manny certainly has the speed/skill.

Interesting fight.

I'm really not so sure.

Alot of people are, in my opinion, over-rating Pacman after his win over Oscar Dela Hoya although I will concede that Pacman has been abit of a monster in the last 2 years.

It's also important to remember that he has been KO'd twice by body punchers earlier in his career and had to fight his heart out against Marquez twice which resulted in a Draw and a Split decision in favour of Manny after being pressurised the whole fight.

Hatton lost to arguably one of the most talented Pound for Pound boxers that has ever graced the boxing ring so I certainly won't be ruling him out because he lost to Pretty Boy Floyd. I think Hatton has the size advantage, strength and murderous body punches to finish Pacman before the end of the fight but that doesn't mean that if he were to win it would be easy.

Mayweather Snr has been trying to get Hatton back to his fighting style prior to the Kosta Tszyu fight by moving his head, working off the jab and not leading with his head. By the same token, Freddie Roach has got Pacman to do practically the same and very effectively too.

As a big fan of both fighters, all I know is that I cannot wait for this fight to happen. It's going to be a huge crowd pleaser when you consider that two fighters (one in his prime and one not far from his prime) who will refuse to give an inch and stand toe to toe. thumbup

I'll still be cheering for Hatton but I won't be dissapointed if either fighter wins so long as they give as good as they get.
