Shotgun Cabinets and The Law
Discussion
Hi Guys,
I have been given the go ahead from the landlord to fix a gun cabinet to the wall in my flat.
My friend has just mentioned that I may have a problem with getting my certificate based on living in a flat?
Has anyone been through this process before and been succesful while living in a rented flat?
Thanks in advance

Its best that you speak to the local firearms licensing officer at your police force as that way you will find out what their expectations are.I have been given the go ahead from the landlord to fix a gun cabinet to the wall in my flat.

I've just bought a brattonsound cabinet and it has some info about fixing it to stud walls etc, so it can be done......
Talk to the BIB and see what they have to say, they're pretty good usually...

I was told, many years ago, that in circumstances like that they might insist on you fixing it to floor joists.I have been given the go ahead from the landlord to fix a gun cabinet to the wall in my flat.

I am in a top floor flat, and I have access to roof space where I would be able to fix the cabinet to stud wall out of the way where it could not be seen at all.
I will give them a quick call tomorrow morning. I have a certain level of government clearance through work so there wont be an issue on that side of getting the ticket, it will be the cabinet that will be the issue.
I was just worried that there was a blanket rule regarding rented flats, seems like my friend was possibly mis-informed.
Thanks guys
