Ok, I know it sold out at the Emirates but come on...surely there is more interest in a match of this magnitude in their respective countries?

This is surely a bit of a slap in the face for their own supporters.

Whats the deal? Why come to England for this sort of showpiece match...it doesn't make sense to me.

Because it'd be a bit of a trek back to Brazil for Adriano, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Denilson, etc to go back for a mid-season friendly.

Most of the players are European based so it makes sense to have it on neutral ground in Europe.

According to the Times, the rights to Brasil's friendlies are owned by a Swiss Marketing company, a Russian investment firm and an Arabic TV station. London suits them.

Ironically, six of Brasil's starting line-up were Serie A players, so Italy does appear to have been a more obvious choice.

Thats unreal.

Looks like once again 'money-wins-out' and the football fan can go hang. One of the biggest & most glamorous games in world football played to suit the corporations.

Last year this time, Brazil played Portugal at the Emirates.

Before that, Brazil played Argentina at the Emirates which was pre-season I think (?)..so obviously it's all about money.

I cannot for the life of me see how that match generated as much cash as it would have done over here.

487 people ffs - I have more than that at my b-b-q's ffs.

It wasn't live on TV AFAIK so whats the rationale? What are the Welsh FA thinking?

I think I read that in the last two seasons Brazil has played in London six times.

oooh i know this one.... to the best of my knowledge it was as a result of bad weather affected the game between Wales and Norway held at the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham in February 08, Wales accepted the offer to play Poland in Portugal late on as it guaranteed them good weather.

I htink the Polish team had gone to Portugal for a training camp but were not due to play a game this week, however, Poland were very keen to play Wales as Poland are in the same qualifying group as Northern Ireland who, being another British team, they consider to be on a par with Wales in terms of tactics and ability.

Wales dont get that many at their home qulaifiers anymore so its not like they would get many for a friendly. Sadly the days of 75,000 in Cardiff under Hughers are long gone, last time i went was for Giggs' final international and only 30,000 could be bothered to watch the games against the Czech Republic.

its unlikely the Poland game would be held at the milenium Stadium due to costs so it would either have been played at Cardiff, Swansea or Wrexham. None of which could guarantee a playable surface...

The game was on S4C.

A sad day...when the exchange rate determines the venue.
