What's your golf handicap?
Discussion
Right, question on handicaps:
How on earth do you have single figure handicaps if you only play a few times a year? Handicaps are given out off the back of club sanctioned competitions with adjustments for weather/best rounds..etc...etc? If you're not a member of a club/play comps you can't have one shirley?
Or are we talking about assumed handicaps? If so I'm probably around 20

Mine is an assumed handicap so I don't muller my playing partners who have proper handicaps. How on earth do you have single figure handicaps if you only play a few times a year? Ahhhh! That must be it
Did you get any lessons to begin with? If not then it is so much more difficult to get decent scores IMO. I had a great teacher who stopped me getting many bad habits and I only used a 7 iron for the first 3 or 4 months of lessons. Then I had about 1 lesson a week and a session at the range practice. I believe it helped me build up muscle memory and I can hold a conversation when I'm swinging as I don't have to think about what I'm doing.
I had some lessons at the beginning by a Pro. he was very good in that he got me hitting the ball correctly and in roughly the right direction. I have spent hours and hours on various ranges where sometimes I'm ok and then I'm ste.
I have played on my local 9 hole in London thus very narrow fairways and I have got par once or twice on Par 3 and 4s but more often 6 and 8 to get in the hole and sometimes more.
I injured my shoulder last Nov through work so I have not attempted to play since then but upto then I was suddenly hitting everything left.
Oh and whether I used a 7,6,5 or my driver, distance was always the same with a good hit, about 130/150 yards.
I just think that some people are just naturally ste at golf and I'm one of them

Was off 4 when I left my last club due to having the kids. Unfortunately in spite of the fact that I've played no mre than 20 rounds in the last 4 years,my bd mates still play me off that when we meet up for the weekends away/odd jolly etc! Still, gives them a laugh!
How much have you slipped ? bet there's a good chance your still single figures.I'm off 6.6 but after winter break (5 Months give or take) usually break 80 in the first round or 2 (Par 69) Your course managemant doesn't usually suffer with a lay off & that is what saves a good No of strokes per round compared to Dave "grip it & rip it" Driver (at every hole)
