Any PHers either attend as supporters or play for their local Ice Hockey team.

My son and I support Slough Jets from the English Premier league.

We started to attend this season on a regular basis and its a really cool exciting sport, never with the long periods of boring play you get in certain other team sports. Excellent hard tackling. No aggro amoungst the fans.

If you have a local team I really recommend you give it a try.

I remember many years ago, probably at least 10 years, going to the odd Basingstoke Beavers game, although I think they are now the Bison?

Always entertaining to watch the players get into fights whilst the referee just stands there watching hehe

Sorry for not replying but my PC aquired a virus and was unusable for a while.

Basingstoke Bisons have played in the top national league, the Elite league, but have found that they dint have the resources to compete at that level and are moving back to the English Premier League next season.

The Beavers became the Bison in 1995 according to wikipedia, which is a bit worrying because I remember going to a few games when they were the Beavers too.

I played for the Bisons under 12's/14's/16's and 18's througout my childhood. A move out to Northern Cyprus where unsuprisingly a lack of ice has stopped me playing frown Has been 5 years now scince i last played and i really do miss it! Out of all of the team orintated sports out there, ice hockey is definitely top trumps in my book. Speed, Power and skill plus being a goalie alows me to wear cool gear :P

Go for it Monki, you wont regret it. I'de recomend checking out ebay for some second hand equipmnt at first as you will know if you have started your reshearch that hockey equipment is seriously expensive. Get yourself a second hand set of gear for now and if you take to the sport get your self some new gear. If you wold like any help in choosing any gear send me a pm and i would be more then happy to help you out smile
