This is a strange article.

I know this is asking a lot, but can anyone work out what Benitez is try to say?

He seems to be saying that Robbie Keane not playing was affecting the whole squad so negatively that he had to be sold, and the risk of having almost zero cover for Torres is a price worth paying?

I've got images of the squad turning up to Melwood with "Play Robbie NOW!" banners confused

I saw the Rafa interview and he didn't actually deny the accusation that he wasn't responsible for the purchase of Keane. He is exceptionally good at obfuscating is Rafa.

I also doubt Robbie will say a word against the team he grew up supporting - he's not the kiss-and-tell type at all.

I suspect we'll have to wait for his autobiography for that.

Pity he didn't keep Keane, and got rid of the completely useless trio of t***s Kuyt, Lucas and Babel. Rafa perseveres with Kuyt every game, but never gave Keane a chance. I now think the team beat Chelsea in spite of Rafa, not because of him. His tactics and team selections are awful, and all since he sgged Fergie off!!!

Rafa's treatment on Robbie Keane is nothing short of disgraceful.
It's not the first time he's treated players in this manner (Peter Crouch)
springs to mind. He argues that Keane was given time but never delivered,
he was never given a fair chance tbh.
I remeber when Fernando Morientes was stuggling to find the back of the
net with Liverpool but Rafa perservered with him and always used to play
him hoping he would come good. He never did and eventually he was shipped out but was givem a lot more of a chance than Keane was given.
I guess it works in your favour if your spanish.
One thing that really baffles me more than anything else is how Dirk ste gets to start nearly every game and even more bizarre is he hardly ever gets substituted. He is a truly awful player with the first touch of a Donkey.
Players like Lucas and Babel have shown good potential in some games but they are very inconsistent. I'd rather we perservere with them than useless Kuyt. Even he makes Emile Heskey look good.
Can you imagine an attacking partnership of Heskey and Kuyt f**cking hilarious
the opposition's defence woulds p*ss themselves laughing at these two idiots running around after the ball.

I do think Rafa is slowly losing the plot - believe me, I would like to see LPool win the title, if only to a) cheer the scousers up and b) Stop Fergie crowing all summer ...

But as soon as he responded to Fergie's jibes he was in trouble ... why can't they see this - nothing would irritate ol red nose more than other manager's just ignoring him - his ego would hate it.

And his selections are all over the place - and the zonal marking thing - just dreadful ... and the giving away of late goals ... awful. I'd be interested to see some facts on how many goals Man U have given away to come away with a draw in the last 20 mins ... hardly ever. If they go 1-0 up, they hardly ever draw let alone lose - the facts would bear that out.

They shut games down - LPoll can't do that - they don't have the playes or the nouse.
